As a diver I know some of that lot. Looks a great boat.

It was an absolute travesty losing the Coastguard station. Swansea is much much busier than Milford Haven yet they kept that open. Milford now covers the whole of the Bristol Channel I understand, or at least it will do.

Nothing to do with the fact that Pembrokeshire is a Tory area though. <whistle> Absolutely no justification for closing one of the busiest stations in the U.K.

Wish we still had a 'proper' lifeboat in my home town. We were downgraded and have got one of the atlantic classes.

Wouldn't have been able to launch in the recent weather they had though.

That was my mate at the helm that day <laugh>

As they came back he was heard to say, "I think my timing might have been a tad out when we launched lads" <laugh>
That has to be the understatement of the year.

All lifeboatmen and women have my utmost respect though. I suppose when you live by the sea, or dive as you do KJ, then you learn to respect the sea and it's power.

It was a bollocks decision to close them down <doh>

Oh yes - been almost vertical in a RIB off West Wales before now - an that was before diving. <laugh>

I won't even give you the gory details of when me and the missus almost copped it 45 metres down off Littlehampton. Scary stuff. <yikes>

Diving is like caving - too dangerous for my liking.

I know it can be AD but if you have good training you can minimise the risks. Most diving deaths are very experienced people pushing the envelope, not true recreational divers. There have also been instances of heart attacks which could happen anywhere.

I'm not usually a deep diver but have been to 51 metres in the Red Sea to see a WWII wreck. The way I figure it the reward diving gives me from seeing things that other people can only dream of balanced against minimal risk is well worth it. I highly recommend it - but never solo dive! That's idiotic.

In the thousands of dives I've done I've only felt unsafe a handful of times, if that. But I accept it's not for everyone.
