I just have one question

If the initial odds are completely based on statistics and not the customer then why say if England played France at present a pretty even match ( we're both ****e) would England be favourites in English bookies and France be favourites in French bookies.
This or similar events obviously take into account the geographic location of the client and their perceived betting trend.Hence it does affect the initial odds.
Same with any event, the ability to sell the product (and hence the opinion of the customer) will be taken into consideration.

 

Was wondering the same thing Louis, but didn't fancy looking down the barrel of tobes gun to get the answer.

 

The simple answer is that at the OUTSET they wouldn't be different.

Check out odds for say tonights game in Italy between Napoli & Arsenal, you'll get the same odds from UK or Italian based bookies, as the probabilities are the same.

 

Can you tell me the name of the local bookies in Napoli so i can check it out, if you do not know, i presume you will have a friend who does

 

Finally, a voice of reason. Without a customer response to the odds that have been calculated they are merely an academic calculation of risk. Those odds may be offered as calculated or adapted by the bookie to meet the response of the customer and your illustration demonstrates that clearly. The risk calculation of the match should produce the same result irrespective of the country in which it is conducted. However the customer response to the result of the same calculation is likely to be very different and hence the odds themselves will be changed to met the local CUSTOMER environment.

I merely used tonights Arsenal game as an example for him to come back with. He came back with a sarcastic response about not knowing anyone in Italy, so I've given him a game tonight in his native France for him to prove his theory with.
