To be fair, last week we were worried about him going to another Championship club because of the wages on offer. Rangers represent the least bad option for us if we can't persuade him to sign for us.
Am getting fed up with it now. He's been linked with us since the January window so needs sorting out now. We either sign him now or he goes elsewhere and we get on with Plan B. Better to give him 48 hours to decide one way or another.
According to a season ticket holder at Celtic, he knows Rangers fans also. The club were taken over for £1 and as a result have massive debts to service, which to his knowledge have't been resolved. Rangers are some way off been able to sign players on decent money, the only difference is CL football. He would expect us to be able to more than compete on wages.
Their new owner Craig Whyte is worth £1b and has pledged to spend £25m on rebuilding the team over the next few years, I don't think they have too much to worry about financially.
That spend was for over 5 years, and the goal posts were moved before he took over. A lot of the board did not want him, but majority shareholders took the money and ran!! The bank debts were supposed to be paid off by him on takeover, so no debts so to speak of!
Apart from Vital, who else is saying that Rangers will enter talks with Danns? Is there definitely a link or could this be agent talk trying to force the wages up? The Rangers link just seems a bit sudden and left field for me.
Michael Brown Sky also gave a similar story about us being in for Brown. I'm not disputing everyone, but Vital Hull (who I usually have the highest respect for) seem to have over egged it by stating that he will open negotiations within 48 hours, and I was wondering if that could be substantiated. I've known Sky be used by agents before now. They're reliable when they say a transfer is completed, but Skysports understands is just as unreliable as the next source.
McCoist confirms interest in Danns: “I think everyone accepts we need more numbers in our squad,” the Rangers manager said. “We need more strength in depth. “I would describe Danns as a box-to-box midfielder with good physical attributes and he should be suited to Scotland.”
Has the issue re Rangers (allegedly) paying players from an overseas account been resolved? I heard some time ago that if the revenue found against them they would have an enormous tax bill to pay, which they couldn't afford, meaning that there was a real risk of the club going bust.
