Bookmakers set their odds based on probabilities - fact

Bookmakers calculate the probabilities using stats - fact

Bookmakers make their money by covering all eventualities that still leaves them a margin - fact

It's all mathematical & statistical, with the added variables of injuries / form in the case of football for example.

An odds compiler doesn't sit there & try & second guess what the market will accept.

Ironically you said the one thing I had right was the market traders analogy, unfortunately for you & your gnat sized brain, you took the wrong sort of market trader. I was referring to a financial trader you bonehead.

As bookies aren't selling any form of 'product' they're making statistical predictions as to the outcome of events & compiling odds that ensure that whatever the outcome they win. They lay the odds in front of the punter & the punter makes the choice as to whether he is going to bet with the bookie i.e. take the statistical most likely option, or bet against that with any number of other outcomes.

So punters betting patterns can effect the BOOK, but not the probabilities, as they are defined at the outset, the movement in the BOOK is purely down to the bookmaker trying to ensure that he retains an overall margin.

There's simply nothing else to add, I've no idea how anyone of sane mind could even argue with what I've said tbh, but I'm sure that won't stop you having one last rant........

Traders are traders in whatever sector they operate the only difference between them are the systems that they employ. The essence of what they do is exactly the same. If you can't even understand that then there is no hope for you whatsoever!

It matters not one jot what methods and what level of technology you employ you employ to calculate your odds. If they ain't attractive to the punter they are useless - costly to calculate but useless. At least the bookies do actually understand the French motto, "Sans clients nous sommes morts"

Then I think you should go back and look at Kotler on Products or any other basic Marketing primer if it comes to that! Even a dullard like you must be able to comprehend that bookies are actively engaged in the selling process. BTW, bookies also lose!
