Good Morning everyone, How are we? Why do we support Leeds Utd? Is it because we live(d) there? Did a parent support our great club? Anything to do with a favourite player at the time, style of play, or simply it was the first club you watched live? Portsmouth was the first club that I watched live. It was Fratton Park, April 1986, and I went to the match with my fathers then business partner who happened to be a season ticket holder. Portsmouth were top of the table at the time, and Leeds were in the bottom third in the old second division. Portsmouth were 1-0 at half time. I remember being told 'never mind, Leeds were never going to get anything out of this game'. When Leeds came out in the second half, they were a different side scoring two goals from Andy Ritchie and a goal from my then favourite player Ian Baird, and although Portsmouth grabbed a late consolation, the three points belonged to Leeds. The Portsmouth fans were absolutely chocked. I had a big grin on my face. We want to hear your stories!!! One of my friends I went out with on Saturday night is a steward at St Marys in her spare time. She was telling me about who the worst away fans were. Without a doubt, she said, the worst behaved fans were Man Utd fans who were pure scum, followed closely by Millwall, cos the stupid bastards just love to have a ruck, mainly with themselves. She went on to tell me whenever Saints play Millwall, the Police have to release the dogs. Who were the worst behaved away fans you have encountered?
Morning Elland and all. I was about eight when I started supporting the whites. Think it was a combination of a few things. As a kid I loved the white strip and it was a big help that we won the vast majority of the games we played in. Sadly it was to be several decades before I was able to travel over for games. Flights in the seventies and eighties were far too expensive, costing several weeks wages. One good thing Ryanair had a big say in making air trave affordable for the masses
The white strip was certainly a part of it for me, as was the 'dirty Leeds' tag. I remember reading one of Gary Edwards books about a young Irish lad that used to hitchhike from Ireland to Leeds for home games, and how 15 years later he owned his own haulage firms in Ireland. Morning btw Eire
Morning all First live match I saw was Northampton Town v Liverpool in a pre-season friendly, first Leeds game we were away to Ipswich Town. I started supporting Leeds around 1973 - My two cousins bribed me to support their favoured teams, one was a Man U supporter the other obviously Leeds. The Man U one offered me a pendant and badge if I said I supported his team. The Leeds one offered me a pendant, hat, scarf and badge. Moral of the story is I can be brought I guess I started seriously supporting them and watching for results and being able to name the first team 11 when I was around the same age Eleven.
IRELAND goalie Paddy Kenny was involved in an altercation with a fan on a flight into Dublin on Saturday night. Paddy (35), who has not played for Ireland recently, and his Leeds United team-mates jetted into Dublin for the club’s official Christmas party knees-up when trouble flared. He was required to speak with airport police after the incident. Shocked onlookers told The Star how the Leeds Utd players were in high spirits and enjoying their flight to Dublin before “an altercation” took place. An eye witness said: “The fans and the players were getting on well but at one stage a fan got a bit close up to Paddy Kenny and there was a slight altercation between the two. Arrests “The police spoke to those involved but it was really only to calm everybody down and there were no arrests made.” It was confirmed to The Star that the flight from Leeds to Dublin was delayed by two hours due to fog and the Leeds Utd players were drinking. Dublin was also the destination for the Christmas parties for Premier League clubs West Brom and Newcastle United.
Hardly much to get worried about there. Im sure the fan also had a couple of hours extra in the bar also
Morning all. My dad was Man u,My mum was City,My older brother was Chelsea so to piss everyone off I think I went with Leeds.I've not changed, still pissing everyone off. Ow and I was a little s--t loved trouble and with Leeds you always got it.
Morning all Howson is now posted a really embarassing picture of our players in onsies (baby grows for so called adults in case you didnt know) so that must have had something to do with the Christmas party. Terrible photo, cant seem to find it at work though. Not worried about the Paddy Kenny story, **** happens and when it happens at an airport it all gets blown out of proportion
I wouldnt worry about that Boggers. It would be a job for interpol due to how Mick has set the site up and they wouldnt get involved in something like that. You should see what the General Chat lads get up to
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing c...ommunity service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen doughnuts waiting for him at his door. Then a Member of Parliament came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of Parliament was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Members of Parliament lined up waiting for a free haircut. And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
