They fancied their chances of taking Paul Lambert too but neither went. Mostly I guess because Burnley is a depressing northern ****hole. Cardiff is more of an appeal I would imagine, not just for the reason you stated - Bigger stadium, more fans and better facilities but the city is a whole lot better too following all the regeneration work in the central area
It's a funny thing about the truth Swamp ! Sam , Peter & Dave all did a job & all went under the wheels . What do Cardiff managers & investors all have in common ? . Short memory fans . Imagine Peter getting a signed agreement from Citibank saying it's ok Cardiff , you don't have to pay it all back , in the case that Sam doesn't come up with the money . Imagine Peter shock , at saving Cardiff at least 15,000,000 from Sam ,as the march commenced . Last but not least , there's Dave . Cheers Dave !!
Yes you're right Cardiff would be a step up for MacKay, just a bit of a small, bit of a broken step. Cardiff City need a lot of hard work to put them back on the right track right now and the man who takes the challenge on wont have much of a margin for error. Championship managers have had an ok success rate in the Prem - don't forget Paul Ince came form 3rd level MK, now that is leaping the chasm (and Ince isn't the best manager around!). Without a doubt MacKay will make a massive positive impact at his next club - the question is which club and when?
Mackay is to be confirmed either today or tomorrow so I've heard. A great, progressive appointment by the board, well done to them!
MacKay is a young manager with drive. His team plays good football and is currently on £130k per year at Watford. If Rumours are true then we are prepared to pay him £160k + £500k bonus on promotion. £160k + £300k compensation taken from a reported £20m team budget (to include wages) is not too much to have to stomach. I beleive that this will be a prudent acquisition. Much better than trying to acquire Di Matteo or Hughton who are both used to PL wage structures and would probably be looking for £500k+ in wages. Where is the incentive there? A promotional bonus should add further incentive to an already self motivated individual. Wasn't MacKay a teammate of Bellamy at Norwich? I understand that Bellars prefered option is MacKay and he told the board this. We (the fans) are looking for a manager with experience of taking a club up to the PL. Why? Who did Brendan Rodgers, Paul Lambert, Ian Holloway, Chris Hughton or Roberto Di Matteo take to the Premier League before being employed by Swansea, Norwich, Blackpool, Newcastle and WBA respectively? IMO, a very good choice by our board
I think I'll wait until an announcement from Cardiff City, this is the 4th or 5th time that the AA board has said we will get the new manager announced tomorrow and a different name every time.
The only thing I'd believe from the AA website is: UKBreakdownCover We attend over 3.5 million breakdowns a year Repairs are completed in under 30 minutes on average One vehicle is fixed every 12 seconds I don't trust a word they say about anything CCFC related...
I'm a watford fan, and atm a lover of watford manager MM, however I do think as a season ticket holder at watford I need to tell you that watford an Cardiff are 2 very different clubs, in the 2 years at watford we havr expected nothing but staying up, and with a very strong academy can just play them players, we have never seen a MM under any pressure therefore he is a massive risk for a club like Cardiff where the board have shown that they are a lot more likely to sack there managers, plus MM was a player for watford who got an assit to put watford in the prem and has therefore got a lot of respect from the watford players therefore they show the respect on the pitch, I dont know if Cardiff would do any better with MM
Excuse me my friend, but Dave Jones was the manager here for 6 bloody years - hardly a short space of time. He was given every opportunity by our board but proved unable to go that extra mile. Hardly "more likely to sack there (your spelling) managers". Perhaps you should have posted this on somewhere like the Leicester board for instance where it would have had more relevance.
MacKay would be making a big mistake to go to Cardiff, the expectations given the circumstances would soon see him sacked. I think the special situation he has at Watford he should hang on to. As for Cardiff I think they need someone in the likes of Chris Hughton, but the bookies seem to think Mackay it is, so we shall see! wonder who will have the biggest gates next season!................. please log in to view this image
Phillis - why don't you mind your own bloody business rather than popping up on practically every thread on the CCFC board?......and no, I'm not in Meldrew mode, just getting a bit peed off like a few others on here at your patronisation now you've made the big time. As for having the biggest gates next season - how are you going to get more than 20K into that council shed of yours?
Yes!! Thank you, you old git, just wanted to test out this new smiley!!............. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
You are wondering.... how soon that your plastic fans in the 20k crowd will fall like nine pins as the Jacks start looseing. PITY
Well Phyills, we sold 18,000 st's according to the club before DJ left so have a pretty good start at getting the average 23/24k we had last season. I don't think you can squeeze that many into your place, even if that many turned up. And, I believe, you have to give away fans a higher allocation in the Prem
yeah sorry oldsparky possibly a little strong, your board seem better than most, but our last 3 managers haven't been sacked now, 2 (if malky leaves) have left for other clubs and the other left cos he thought he coiuld do no more, at watford there was no expectation, where do you want to be at the end of the year Elexir???
Well folks with 3 of the divisions "top clubs" money wise now looking to appoint a new manager, it is clear Malky MacKay will be going to one of them pretty soon. Why did Nottingham Forest decide to sack Billy Davies today? There is a thread that Forest want to "get in" and maybe they think they are in danger of losing their preferred target? I don't know, but I believe Malky has now left Watford. Safety and 52 points seems a long way away.
