My point is: Why should anyone ignore the acts of someone's past, just because it suits the over the top PC days we live in? If I said that Osama bin Laden should be lauded for his attempts to overthrow what he and his cohorts deemed to be an illegitimate regime, I would rightly be vilified. Why then am I vilified for stating the facts about Mandelas past? The incongruity is a little confusing. Simple as that. It should also be noted that I have no axe to grind with anyone, however, if I have an opinion that upsets people, I apologise but please allow me to have that opinion and expect me to retaliate if I feel that I am being attacked, just as I expect people to retaliate against me. Cue more abuse.
Should I take that as a 'yes'? I might go running to the mods and complain that you are hijacking my thread - although that's unlikely as I am not that pathetic.
Wish we could erase appointing Hughes. Note the delicate manner in which the thread is moved back on topic.
funny i had a conversation the other night what is the difference between a freedom fighter and a terrorist. it all came down to what was politically accepted or what you believe the course and goals of the group were. just remember most governments are even worst that any of these groups
Well said. The Nazi government under Hitler for example. Their atrocities should never be forgotten. Is ANYONE getting my point now?
Not really. You bracket Mandela with bin Laden because you don't believe either of their aims or goals were correct/acceptable?
It's their METHODS of achieving those goals that are at question. Does that make my point any clearer? To be honest I would have thought that was obvious, but I apologise if I didn't make myself clear on that.
