Nottingham Forest has sacked Billy Davies http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13644012.stm Thoughts?
No suprise, he wasn't becoming a popular man with the Forest fans, and 2 consecutive failed play off campigns won't have helped his case. Will be interesting to see what kind of managerial merry go round this could start.
I'm not shocked by the news as Forest's ****e form in the back end of the season was pretty much down to his tactics and this lead to his downfall. Also they were always second best to Swansea in their playoff semi final match.
Will he get a reasonable pay off ? Probably. Will he walk into a new job on decent pay next week ? Probably. Managers get sacked for being ****e managers, and get another managers job the next day...
McLeish has resigned, so he won't get a pay off at all, but it won't matter, as I suspect he's been offered the Villa job.
If he has and he takes it then that'll go down well with the Brum fans. Must be comparable to high treason in the second city.
The Jobster predicted this in an article a few weeks ago! Didn't predict Mcliesh though! Bit of a surprise there
Like him or loath him Arsene Wenger must be one of the longest serving managers in the UK now, despite lack of trophy's, although S.A.F. must be top of the league, much like his teams really.
McClaren gone to Forest on 3 year deal. Birmingham now talking to Cotterill, will that affect the Norris move to Portsmouth? It could definitely slow some transfer movements. It's like musical chairs at the moment with the managers.
I think McClaren will do a good job at Forest, he may have ballsed up the England job but if he can repeat his acheivements at Middlesbrough they've got themselves a good manager. Also interesting to see that Nathan Tyson has joined Derby, particularly after this incident when he was playing against them for Forest. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKHluB9Ji9A&feature=related
