Just found this - make a good read: http://metro.co.uk/2013/12/07/the-kids-are-alright-as-southamptons-youngsters-hold-manchester-city-4222112 No 7
And how about this; Saints players yesterday: 25 Gazzaniga 22 Chambers English 23 Shaw English 16 Ward-Prowse English 06 Fonte 05 Lovren 20 Lallana English (RamÃrez - 85' ) 18 Cork English 17 Osvaldo (Lambert - 77' English ) 08 Davis (Reed - 90' English ) 09 Rodriguez English So much for "Not enough English players good enough to play in the Premiership." Can't think of another current team like it... Vin
And compare with: 30 Pantilimon 05 Zabaleta 13 Kolarov 25 Fernandinho 04 Kompany 26 Demichelis 07 Milner English (Javi GarcÃa - 62' ) 42 Yaya Touré (Dzeko - 79' ) 16 Agüero 09 Negredo (Jesús Navas - 62' ) 08 Nasri
I genuinely got goose-bumps reading that. I say it again, has there ever been a better time to support Saints? VIn
5 of the 14 players used yesterday came from our academy. Doubt any other team in the league could get anywhere near that.
Yep, second thing I read this morning after -DTLW's unashamed article & GIF making the most of Dani Osvaldo's goal. Also, another nice summary of yesterday's game from Charlie Nicholas on SKY Soccer Saturday. I refer to it because he makes special mention of the kids: http://www1.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/9062957/nicholas-praises-saints
Echo says today that Saturday was the first time any Premiership team has had four 18-year-olds on the pitch at the same time. We were also the first team to start a game with three 18-year-olds on the pitch (WBA this season). Great to be a part of this, isn't it? And who can forget Reed's run back to intercept (don't know whom he was intercepting but you'll remember if you noticed it). He was desperate to get a tackle in; looked like a steam train heading down the pitch. Vin
Downloaded the whole 90 minutes yesterday and paid particular attention to Reed's cameo. He got bullied by every ManC player he encountered but he kept being available.
Where did you get it from, please? I love watching full games again rather than highlights. Plus, even if it's hosted in Elbonia on a PC made from old cornflake packs and a build-it-yourself crystal radio computer it'll be better quality than SaintsPlayer... V
Yeah, I haven't been following closely. The game I mentioned was from here: http://www.footballorgin.com/2013/12/premier-league-2013-2014-southampton-v_7.html You will need a video downloader in your browser and get past a few adverts, but you should be able to get a 720p copy of Saturday's match. Or you can watch it streamed if you like.
