If it was for purely footballing reasons then I've got no problem with it. But I've always had the suspicion that he's angry for a reason.
It was purely cos the Northern Irish FA dropped him after he attended a trial with Man Utd. He missed one U16s match so he could attend a trial at the biggest club in the British Isles, and they responded by dropping him from the squad. So he switched to the Irish FA who were happy to have him. Even Jonny Evans, a Northern Irish player, blames the Northern Irish FA for the whole thing: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/s...ce-is-backing-gibson-in-ifa-row-13472401.html
Me too. Adam is by far the more talented footballer but unless he knuckled down and played for the team, rather then himself, he'd be a liability. Stephen Hunt laid into him recently and was spot on. But with Gibson, I know for a fact that the seeds were sewn by the incompetent IFA as per usual. He was offered a trial at United and the IFA told him that if he went for that trial, he could forget about representing their team. So Darron (correctly imo) went on trial anyway and stuck two fingers up to the IFA. I have no doubt that given gthe choice, he would rather have represented the ROI but the IFA opened up the floodgates with that obstinate ruling and it has hurt us no end.
That did seem like a particularly self defeating move by the IFA. One of their brightest young prospects has the chance to join one of the best teams in Europe and they threaten to drop him if he does?! Were they just aiming for mediocrity?
That's disgraceful. Why stop a future international from furthering his career and probably his abilities. It's cutting your nose off to spite your face really isn't it :/
