It might be another of those seasons where 40 pts does not guarantee safety. If we can keep our points tally ahead of our games tally we SHOULD be OK. But Bruce's 10 wins might need revising upwards.....
I don't think 40 points is really that important; 2012-13 Sunderland stayed up on 39 2011-12 QPR stayed up on 37 2010-11 Wolves managed 40, beating Blackpool and Birmingham by a single point. 2009-10 West Ham stayed up on 35 (We only managed 30 points that season!) 2008-09 Hull City stayed up on 35. There's already a gap forming between us and the bottom, if we win tonight that gap becomes 7 points. Palace won't keep picking up points and Sunderland can't seem to get a win from anywhere, so I think 35 points going into March will see us safe.
Nah, Swansea have a Europa match Thursday away, so they won't go hell for leather tonight, I think we might just shade it or at least a draw.
I was hoping for that against Arsenal but look how they treated it. I suspect Swansea will treat tonight more importantly than the Europa game, tonight either of us go 10th if we win, lose and we're still both close to the lower pack. I just hope DG gets on and scores and it opens the floodgates for him.
