This is strange timing? Nottingham Forest have sacked Billy Davies as manager, and are now in talks with Steve McClaren.
McClarens a very, very good club manager/coach. Good appointment for Forest if true. I'd have them as favourites for promotion if he does.
I've a lot of mates who are Forest fans and (despite being Derby manager at one point) rated davies highly. They reckon the only reason they didn't go up automatically is that the board didn't invest in the team and they just ran out of steam. In the last few weeks a lot of the forest players are in negotiations with other clubs so who ever comes in will have a hell of a job trying to keep the team together. If they can do that and the board spend a few quid then theres no reason they cant get promotion but with West Ham in the championship it looks like they may have to do it through the playoffs (something they've failed) to do over the last few seasons, but it'll make for an interesting season down here.
It's on the BBC website that SMc is talking to them. That's bloody quick, which suggests that Forrest have been talking to McClaran behind Billy Davies's back. Naughty boy Mr McClaren!!!!
It's confirmed. Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Steve McClaren as their new manager. The Championship side sacked Billy Davies on Sunday, and they wasted little time in deciding who they wanted his successor to be. Now after talking terms McClaren has penned a three-year deal at the City Ground. The former England and Middlesbrough boss has been out of work since leaving German outfit Wolfsburg last season
