We need a little bit more activity on the limerick front , and if you don´t feel like bursting into verse after a win like today, then I´m not sure when you ever will. Don´t feel I´m pressing by the way, but I know some of you can, if you put your minds to it Please
On Saturday December 7, Temporarily at least, we are in heaven, We've racked up our 2nd win away, Against the team that is WBA!!!
Today the bright Canaries won, They did it with style and great aplomb I was out on my street, riding my scooter Was delighted to hear first scorer was Hooper!!
I still am living the dream Of top ten glory for my team, With Canaries on song, It will not be long Till we rise to the top like all cream!
A trip to the Midlands, was one of unease with so many travelling Canary fans to appease but Chris Hughton did dare forcing Steve Clark to err and City romped home with some ease
There was a young manager, Hughton, Whose football was not highfalutin', His idea of fun Was nine zero one Especially in cup ties with Luton. And, just to be fair: There was a young manager, Hughton Whose players were awful at shootin' So he put a big bomb Up their bums at West Brom And now he's a tough guy like Putin.
You got me going now, RBF. There was a young manager, Pulis, Whose headwear was famously foolish. And as for his teams, They were nightmares, not dreams, From a squad that was totally ghoulish. There was a fat manager, Sam, Whose style was as classy as Spam But when Real Madrid Didn't put in a bid, He threw all his toys out his pram.
Thank you for taking up the challenge, some of you, they will all be part of my deliberations, come Christmas, but would you be so kind as to post any further efforts on the ´Sticky Limerick Challenge´ thread please, just to make things slightly easier for me.
You, sir, are a natural at this - that made me howl with ter. Excellent way to start my Sunday Although if they're being considered for publication in the match-day programme again, (RBF?) then I'm afraid - due to it's content, the one above won't make the cut.
Absolutely right Cromer, as is the Christmas tradition, and as always, there have to be some that don´t get chosen, for whatever reason But personally I´m not at all aversed to a little bit of controversy, although I know that the programme editor at the club, is, so there´s no way I´ll be sending him that one.
Robbie, I don't know why, but I thought of a limerick for you. This is only meant to be a bit of harmless teasing, but if it offends you please tell me and I will take it down at once. There was an old poster named Robbie Who liked to find stats as a hobby But when, in his view, His stats proved him true He could turn out exceedingly gobby.
Hi RBF bor, Glory be to the Father, Son and Canaries Our team to fulfil our dreams, May they continue to enthrall our fans By winning against other teams ! Season's Greetings to you, and your family, not forgetting Rex.
In the interests of fairness, Robbie, I've made one about myself: There was an old poster, Vietnam, Whose knowledge of maths was a sham, So each time he'd speak His logic grew weak: I conjecture, therefore I am
The numbers don't lie vietnam Objectivity isn't a sham What you say you see Need not necessarily be So I count and therefore I am! Happy Christmas! Robbie
To vietnam and ´Robbie the stat´ Nothing´s quite as simple as that, Numbers, as we know Don´t necessarily show The whole of the picture format.
Numbers are numbers -- no more What they "show"'s a conclusion YOU draw If your logic's not sound You'll go round and round And never appreciate the score! To illustrate: the stats show that on Saturday WBA dominated possession, just as we did against Hull and Cardiff. In those three games the team with vastly greater possession lost (or in the case of the Cardiff game didn't win) from which someone might be tempted to conclude that the importance of ball retention is vastly over-stated. If you draw that conclusion you are wrong, because when you look at possession stats over time, rather than in this or that game, what you see is that the teams who dominate possession in their matches are at the top end of their league, those who can't keep the ball at the bottom.
`Tis true, those who retain the ball Have a better chance to score overall, But possession alone Won´t get you right home Without a Hooper or Wolf there, on call ( incidentally, lovely CLC contribution)
