It doesn't seem as if AVB has dismissed the Capitol One Cup so lightly. Only last week, in a desperate attempt at clutching straws, he said " we are on he verge of a semi final place". I agree the COC is "MIckey Mouse" but success in the competition could keep AVB in a job.
If I remember right, we asked for the 15% in both league cup semi finals and we didn't get the 15% on police advice. I expect it'll be the same this time. Unless you're a ST holder with a lot of loyalty points then there's no chance. Although I will have at least 1 spare for the game, the wife has already said she isn't going!
I agree. It would also make me happy. It may be the Mickey Mouse Cup but winning anything is a lot better than not winning anything, as far as I'm concerned.
I disagree with the comment that our reserves are better than theirs... Giroud, Kocielny, Schesney and Merts won't need replacing after the cardiff game. In midfield they can choose from: Ramsey and Ozil the two most inform midfielders in the league Arteta, wilshire, Rosicky, Flamini and Cazorla As well as possibly having Podolski and Walcott available to stretch the game if necasary. Then you have the fact that Cardiff are unlikely to trouble them at home, as utd will us away. Will be a very very tough game, but that is what would make a victory all the better. (though we would probably get a ****e championship team next round who would then knock us out)
No. lol. You did once manage a 4-1 in the league cup in a game with mroe reserve and youth players than i have ever seen in one match! (We trounce you in the league that season though if i remember rightly ) As a gooner, can't wait for this one, it's at home and cup game + rivalry = good fixture.
As for Arsenal reserves, with everyone fit our starting 5 in midfield are: Ramsey, Flamini, Ozil, Cazorla, Walcott. Which makes our reserves: Rosicky, Arteta, Wilshere, Oxocube, Podolski - all of which would have a shout at a starting place in your midfield imo The defence is likely to stay the same but with Jenkinson and Monreal getting game time (despite a lot of Arsenal fans thinking Monreal is better than Gibbs). Up top Bendtner/Podolski/Walcott are our back-up options, currently is Bendtner (LOL) but Podolski will likely become Girouds main back-up once he has returned from injury. That said i could still see us playing Giroud aainst you lot.
*ahem http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/league_cup/7197913.stm Arsenals team: -------------------Fabianski---------------- Sagna--------Hoyte-------Gallas------Traore -------------------Gilberto----------------- -------------Denilson*---Diaby-------------- Walcott------------Bendtner---------Hleb *Fabregas replaced Denilson at 18mins With Eduardo and Ade coming on at 65mins I make that one reserve player in Hoyte.
I think you are wrong on this. On January 22nd 2008 we beat you lot 5-1 at the Lane in the semi final 2nd leg after a 1-1 draw in the 1st leg your place. Looking at the team I wouldn't call fabregas, gallas, silva, diaby, sagna & Helb youth or reserve players. Also had fabianski, hoyte, traore, denilson, Walcott, bendnter, Eduardo and adebayor feature as well (last 2 as subs)
If you make that one reserve player you can't have known much about that Arsenal team To name a few players who where part of the squad in that season: Lehmann, Almunia (both played more times than flappy hands), Rosicky, Flamini (Denilson+Diaby made less appearances than both of these midfielders that season and Gilberto less than Flamini), Eboue, Adebayor, Clichy, Eduardo, K.Toure. So i'd say Denilson, Hoyte, Traore, Flappy would count as reserve players and despite some of the others getting a lot of game time you could argue the inclusion of several other players ahead of them (e.g. Adebayor ahead of Bendtner) But thats all a waste of time as the game i was talking about full of reserve players was in-fact the 4-1 in the league cup (and both teams where full of reserves)
And those surprises tend to happen when one team is off guard against a lower team, not the case this time.
I remember him saying that, it was definitely reaching a bit! Lets face it we'd take any trophy these days, I don't think we're really in a position to get snobby about cups we try to win. Luckily with our squad we should be able to put in a good performance in the league cup without using many first choice players.
