What I always tell my kids about being bullied, stand up for yourself. One of two things will happen Smack them or you whack them and they pummel you, but they will think twice about doing it again.

What's your kids age difference mate, are they boys or girls or mixed.

The fact I've got twin boys makes me feel abit better about when they growing up at school. They'll always look out for one another I hope.
It may sound daft but I've got a gym in the garage so I'll be putting my lads through the paces at a young age to build their strength up and to hope they become Sports orientated. I don't want my boys to be Xbox/Playstation geeks!

Some docile Yorkie tried it on with me when I first moved here many, many years ago. Certainly stopped when I Lee Cattermoled him on the football pitch hahaha (a nice raker down the back of his leg).

What shocked me was that apparently I used to be a bully myself. I have no recollection of this whatsoever however my mother certainly does. Felt like **** when I found out. Would have only been 6 at the time but still.....!

4 & 6yrs mate 17 months between them, we have 2 & 1/2 year old twins in the family, mental buggers (love them to bits mind) on top of those they have 23 other cousins ranging from 2 & 1/2 to 21, more eyes on them than a motorway marra

    ps 2 girls

that was my exact point on the facebbok status that prompted this OP mate, bullies are unaware of the pain they cause their victims, totally oblivious. Big of you to own up mind <ale>

Mick Mills, England's captain at the 1982 football World Cup, has been accused of "turning a blind eye" to an initiation ceremony on young footballers known as "the Glove" that has left Stoke City in court facing a landmark case.

Mills, awarded an MBE after a career that included 43 England caps, was Stoke manager in the 1980s when teenage apprentices at the club were allegedly subjected to a punishment ritual also known as "the Finger", whereby a goalkeeper's glove was smeared with heat cream and used in a sexual assault.

I also went to Thornhill, left in 96, and there were sure signs of segregation creeping in then.

All of the Asians/Pakistani's used to group together in the corners, I guess it's gone one step further now.

Was there 89-94. 5hithole of a place & no way on Earth will I let my kid go there. Heard some bad stories about the place from people I know who went there in recent years, kids having to hang about in groups to avoid being attacked & people carrying knives & such. Was bullied once or twice in my time there but a couple of swift right hooks nipped that in the bud. Can remember one lad saying i was "deed after school when i got to the top of the bank", he wasn't there that day when i did & bumped into him later in life after clubbing down the town in which he stood shaking like a tambourine when i approached him. Big difference in attitude when he never had a load of little cronies with him to back him up.

it's a depressing state of affairs. as Bri says, it comes down to parenting, schooling and managing peer pressure.

Surely this is going to far..

The suspension of a six-year-old boy for kissing a girl at school is raising questions about whether the peck should be considered sexual harassment.

The boy's mother said officials at Lincoln School of Science and Technology in Canon City, Colorado, are overreacting.

Jennifer Saunders said her son was suspended once before for kissing the girl and had other disciplinary problems, and she was surprised to find out that he would be forced out of school again for several days.

Hunter Yelton said he has a crush on a girl at school and "she likes him back".

"It was during class, yeah. We were doing reading group, and I leaned over and kissed her on the hand. That's what happened," he said.

Ms Saunders said she saw nothing wrong with her son's display of affection.

She said she punished him for other problems in school, including "rough-housing", but was shocked when the school's principal brought up the term "sexual harassment" during a meeting.

"This is taking it to an extreme that doesn't need to be met with a six-year-old. Now my son is asking questions. 'What is sex mommy?' That should not ever be said, sex. Not in a sentence with a six-year-old," she said.

District superintendent Robin Gooldy said the boy had been suspended because of a policy against unwanted touching.

"The focus needs to be on his behaviour. We usually try to get the student to stop, but if it continues, we need to take action and it sometimes rises to the level of suspension," he said.

David Welsh, a school psychologist, said some policies that bar bullying, harassment and weapons on public school campuses may go too far.

But he said school boards are being forced to develop strict policies because of a large number of complaints being reported by students and teachers who face consequences if they keep silent.

"If you have a policy and procedure and you don't follow it, it's hard to defend," Mr Welsh said.

Bullying has escalated so much. I was bullied when I was at school. A lot of it they added the word "Diabetic" to (in the same way a racist would call someone "black" and feel the need to say it)

Myself - I never let it get to me. I kn ew that I had my circle of friends and that was that. I didn;t want to be friends with those people so I never let it get to me. But there was no cyber or text stuff back then as I left in 91 and it was pre the mobile phone and internet being widely available.

I stood up to one of the bullies in the 5th year when I got him on his own. Bust his nose and bruised his balls with my knee. He never bothered me again - 1-1 I don't mind but most of the physical bullying was a group against me. They broke my leg in the 5th year just after I'd recovered from a broken leg (targetted it) - deputy head teacher's son was the instigator and had others doing his bidding.

I never felt like killing myself. Was bullied all through secondary school and also in 3 of the jobs I worked in. One kid when I was a YT punched me in front of the manager - but he was the bosses son so nothing got done about it. (And he did it because I took the piss about WWF wrestling saying that it was fake!).

Bullies who cause someone to go so far azs to kill themselves should be made an example of - but they're "children" so they can't do that - personally - I'd hang the ****ers out to dry.
