Everton's loan players are using the club as a shop window. Even if Everton got top 4 they would prefer to play in the CL with a team more likely to go far.

That's not meant to be disrespectful to Everton, it's just the way things are. It would be worse in a way if the loan players suddenly thought they were lifelong Blues after a few months of decent results.

One of those managers is ours so being a Liverpool fan I'll back him.

I think everton are benefiting from the the perfect blend, they have spirit left over from moyes and a good footballing manager, will be interesting what happens when martinez had to make the squad his own. It is great to see both mersey clubs up there, hope they can both make it to one and two, would love it :)

  4. No. People saying it because in their opinion there is no chance of Lukaku staying, myself included. In fact, it was me that started it!

Barry staying is equally as likely as Lukaku not doing. You could keep both but then (referring back to my original point) you stand still because you wipe out your summer budget keeping hold of two players you've already had use of for a year.

Tobes, personally I would look beyond Barry. He is getting older and never set the world alight anyway. I can see him quickly dropping away like Parker. Brilliant one season, disappears the next.

first the words "terribly average team" does everton great discredit.
    ave gerrard.
    howard. good keeper
    Jagielka. good defender
baines. best LB in the prem probably
    need i go on?

lukaku up front makes it all work and they are VERY lucky to have got him on the last day.

Barkley is going to be one of the top top prem players.

Meireles pace and assist levels doesn't lie.

I mean lets give credit where its due they have been consistently up there even though moye <laugh> held them back.

Rodgers has us second in the league, we have a fine forward three in coutinho, suarez and sturridge, we have johnson, agger and sahko... and still have gerrard.... in short swap them? no.... is rodgers all that... no not yet.

I am confident enough at this point to think that he will not go down as the second manager of lfc since shankley came to not win a trophy. I think he can do it if he learns from mistakes... and he is making them.

He's been phenomenal so far. His game never involved pace or running round like a terrier like Parker, so I think he's got a year or 2 left.

Barry has become even more clumsy in the tackle than he was when he signed for City, usually goes in studs up these days, he's a long ban waiting to happen tbh.<whistle>

Everton's 4th best player this season but not worth commiting your limited financial resources to IMO

Whereas you predicted Suarez would leave in the best case and sulk and devalue massively in the worst, so you definietly know your transfers <ok>

    Calm down fella's..
I'm (sure loads of other Liverpool fans are too), very happy with the job Rodgers as done/is doing so far.
Like MITO said, he's making mistakes but I hope he learns from them, and so far he is (to a point).
Martinez is doing a great job, long may that continue too, be good to get both Merseyside teams back where they belong, towards the top of the league.

Just seen your next 3 fixtures Tobes. Fulham (H), Swansea (A), Sunderland (H). With the top teams playing each other in the next few games, your lot could be in a very healthy position by January, weren't expecting that when you drew your opening 3 games <yikes>

Not going to get ahead of ourselves tbh mate, just enjoying it

Martinez has managed to change both our playing style & our mindset in a timescale that I'd have said was impossible.

I thought Martinez did a poor job at Wigan, he took over after they finished 13 th and after the job he did at Swansea I thought he would comfortably have them midtable not fighting relegation every year and eventually being relegated. You can claim he didn't have much to spend but how many clubs in the bottom half do and he had some really good players during his time there so to leave them worse off than when he took over is not really the sign of a good manager and I thought he was extremely fortunate to get the Everton job.

Still early days for him but no doubt he's done fantastic in his first 6 months but he's proved nothing yet. Same goes for Rodgers but he has maintained an improvement over a slightly longer period. I'd have to say on last few years evidence Rodgers is the better manager. He acheived what Martinez couldn't at Swansea, got them promoted and comfortably kept them in the league turning them into an established premier league team while Martinez turned an established premier league team into a championship team. Rodgers then steadied a sinking ship after a terrible start last season and seems to have overtaken an Everton side with Martinez in charge, dont forget Everton were the better side last season.
