Newcastle fan in peace - We've been linked with Taylor in the past couple of weeks, don't kno much about him other than he came from Wrexham and palyed 30 odd games last season. So how would you rate him, for instance against James Perch who we signed from Forest last year and hasn't exactly set the world alight...is he the finished article / near to finished, or is he one for the future? Good luck for the coming season, if you fill your stadium should be a cracking atmosphere down there (hopefully a lot better than the last time we played you) and have a word with the council, get them to stick another pub close to the ground for the away fans!
He is no way the finished article, no where close IMO , he does have the potential however and am sure he will get there, but to be honest he will be a bench warmer for you, and you won't get him for a million no matter what the reports say, there is no clause that will allow to leave so cheaply. But I wonder if you need him to be honest, he is basically a non league player who made good last season, there is as you know a gulf between the champion and premier league, and don't know if he'll make it in your team, £2m-£3m and we'll find out I guess. Good luck for the season, by the way did Obi Wan come over to the dark side? Had some good banter with him on 606?
One OK season at Championship level. He has a lot of potential though and could turn out to be a gem. Then again he might not. Who can tell after one season? Given that there is a sell on clause with previous club Wrexham, one million pounds is hardly enough to tempt us to part. I believe that if the bid was raised to £2 million then our manager might consider it..... might. Naturally enough, Dean Saunders, Wrexham manager, considers it would be a good move for Taylor. I don't blame him. Wrexham need urgent funds and Dean must have been delighted to hear the news. But we need players rather than funds so I don't believe that Taylor will be allowed to go unless we receive top dollar for him. Of course, that will be even sweeter music to Dean's ears should that happen.
I'm confused. Sorry to appear somewhat ignorant here but can someone explain to me (again) where the Swans stand with regard to this £1m clause? Does it mean that if Newcastle come in with a bid of £1m Taylor can go and we're helpless to stop it or does it mean that other clubs can talk to him but the final decision rest with the Swans board??? One other thing, I hope some of the senior players have explained to him how many people have left us for greener pastures only to find it disappointment etc...
No it means that if someone bids a million or more he can simply talk to other sides, the swans don't need to accept that offer, and won't IMO ! Plus we need a sell on clause plus the fee when he goes, because can't see him staying now
Can't understand this move by you Toons, the guy was non league 12 months ago, Yes he's had a good first season as a pro, but to me this move is too big, and far too soon for him, if it comes off, it is likely to be a minimium of 2 Million, but Taylor is trying to run before he can walk, and the reality will be him bench warming, some of these footballers are thick as a brick!.............. please log in to view this image
The one million pound bid from Newcastle Opened up a clause in Taylors contract that basically says he is allowed to talk to the club that makes the bid. It does not say that Swansea must release Taylor for that amount. Swansea could (and should) turn down the bid and seek a much higher price for Neil if we are to let him go.
Cheers guys, I honestly think he will go know from what I have seen on BR's stance on only having players that want to be in a Swans shirt. If we can get £2m for him we should, there are quality players that are out of contract anyway
Posted this guy on here a while back, definitely think he could do for us what Taylor has done Thomas Cruise http://www.givemefootball.com/player-profiles/thomas-cruise
Taylor can go as far as I'm concerned now. So disappointed in him. Really can't understand some of these players, absolutely deluded!!! Huw. Screw as much as you can from the Toon & then let him go.....
Why are we all giving up on him? We don't know for a fact that he has said he wants to go, he just wants to hear what they have to say. I guess it's the same as us. If someone asked us about switching jobs, we would listen to whatg they had to say. I say give him a chance to tell us whats actually going on, and if he wants to go, then go.
Ash this clause has been put there by Taylor and his agent, I've not heard of this one before, but Taylor or his agent are the only ones to have leaked this to Newcastle, for obvious reasons. So he doesn't actually have to come out and spell it all out for us, now does he! Trying to run before he walks, like I said some players are thick as a brick, he's looking like a Bessone if you ask me, where is he to now?........ please log in to view this image
I agree with dragon that tailor has the potential to become a good player, i still say that he will be making a huge mistake moving to the toon as he is raw and still has loads to learn yet and the best place for that is with us, you see these young lads joining these more glamorous clubs only to find they are way off the pace and end up playing with fringe and youth players and they are never seen again until they appear back in div2 or non league....you never run before you can walk and tailor has a lot of walking to do yet before IMO he will be good enough for the premiership big clubs....
Phil - This is true. I think that what we are forgetting is we were one of the favourites ofr relegation last year. Had we gone downto league one, Taylor would not want to make a return back down the leagues and he would have known we would not have let him go. Therefore, his agent probably wanted the realease clause put into place to protect the player. Taylor is still away on holiday, therefore I would say his agent has leaked this to the Toon in order to get Taylor a hefty pay rise and himself a nice wad of cash. Let's see what Taylor has to say when he return, shall we?
Good point Ash. Let`s wait for him to come back off his hols and make him sweat a bit. If there is no increased bid, he can stay here and spend some time on the bench, or in the reserves. Some agents, like this one perhaps, are the spawn of Satan, or sperm of the Devil.
