Good on you Ric. You are right, we are usually well up for these sort of games at the Brit so who knows. We really have nothing to lose today as Chelsea are expected to win but a draw or win for us would set us up for what is indeed a tough December fixture list and instil some much needed confidence. I am a little concerned however that we are not as solid defensively of late compared to previous seasons. Bego may need to play a blinder yet again and let's hope we can convert any chances that come our way. I won't be there myself of course but the crowd should be up for the game and give their support to the team.

i agree, the back four and bego are going to have to play the game of their lives, Hazard imo is one of the best players in the world, if we can keep him quiet we will have a chance

Who would have thought it ........... beating Chelsea, especially having gone behind after 10 mins. A great result that lifts us up to 12th. A real confidence booster and according to SSN we played extremely well in the second half. Well done the lads

    Happy Birthday Jowler for yesterday!

Wonderful result. It was a very enjoyable drive home and still on a high!

Thought after 10 minutes we were going to be hammered. In the first 35 minutes we really lacked any idea to be honest. The Crouch goal came against the run of play and I was awaiting a whistle for a free kick when the ball was in the net! The team was then determined to get through to half time without conceding a second goal. It looked as if their lives depended on it.

Hughes obviously delivered an effective halftime talk and the team appeared galvanised for the second half and came out fighting. I thought we were fortunate to get away with the foul by Walters on Aquilante before Ireland scored a great second goal. The support the team got when Chelsea equalised was exceptional and I am sure this all helped the team settle down again. With Lampard. Eto and Ba coming on they could have buckled. None of it, the team was quite willing to build an attack or break quickly. I really thought it was a mature performance in the second half. Walters did well but again let himself down by getting booked stupidly. Today they were all heroes and I agreed with Robbie Savage when he commented on 5 live that it helped Stoke when Adam went off and there was no doubt in my mind that he was in a very tetchy frame of mind.

What can we say about the winner? The ball broke from defence to Ireland who found himself in space around the halfway line who proceeded to pass deftly to the left and Assaidi who dropped his left shoulder step inside of that right back and strike from at least 20 yards and see the ball soar into to the top right hand corner of the net! What a screamer. A goal that deserved to win any game!

The 'not so Special one' thought Stoke were fortunate to win. I would agree. We were very ordinary in the first half and if Ramires and Mata had not been so wasteful we could have been 3-0 down before Walters headed wide in the 37th Minute, This was after all the first effort on goal !

There was an amazing turnaround in the second half and I hope that the fight shown continues for many a day! Hughes must keep the players feet firmly of the floor and go to Hull for one hell of a game. They are doing well at home. It would be good to get a point and even better to record a win, which is quite feasible.

I think that Walters is suspended for next week and that will ensure that Assaidi has another chance so that augurs well.

Overall a wonderful day and a totally unexpected 3 points.
