We all know that home form is vital. Over the last few seasons opposition team have been coming with plenty of belief to grab a point at least. Are we seeing things change this season? I personally think we are, teams seem to dread a trip to Anfield these days - long may it continue. Last 5 home matches: LFC 4-1 West Ham LFC 5-1 Norwich LFC 4-0 Fulham LFC 4-1 West Brom LFC 3-1 Crystal Palace Any thoughts on why we seem to have overcome this. Or am I being a bit premature? #FortressAnfield
Its good to see. It hasn't been a fortress over the past few years and at times it seemed we played better away. Very important though. One thing I would say is the teams we have beaten have been largely poop. We need to make sure the bigger teams leave without many points too.
It does seem that we are starting to beat teams that we should be at home this season which is a good sign. I think once you get a few victories it breeds confidence and a few big victories certainly helps. Also I think teams are coming here and fearing Suarez as well which means even when he's not having a great game they're still wary of him and it may make them nervous which leads to more mistakes. We've not played any of the big teams at home yet (apart from United) with them all coming to Anfield in the 2nd half of the season so if we can carry on this form into the 2nd half it bodes well for us.
All 5 of those sides are ****, so I'd wait until some decent opposition turns up before making statements like this......
Yes but look at the scores. Average of 4 goals a game. They may be **** teams but we are hammering them as you'd expect.
If you take the corresponding fixtures last year (for QPR see palace) we are 7 points better off and 12 goals more scored
I'll take that over a couple of seasons ago under Kenny when we dominated matches at Anfield but couldn't score to save ourselves.
The Blue Nose doesn't know his arse from his elbow so there's no true considered opinion coming from that quarter. Is Anfield yet a fortress? - probably not. Having said that, it is becoming a very difficult place to come to for opponents. As others have said we are putting away those sides that we are expected to beat. We are managing to find a way of breaking down those who come to park the bus. But we are still capable of leaving ourselves vulnerable to the counter and panicking in defence. Our defensive woes are probably of our own making as we have not found a settled back 4 yet. The vulnerability to the counter seems to stem from an almost childish wish to join in with the attacking and thereby leaving ourselves short. It happened again today but was more than compensated for most of the time by the long periods of pressure that we were exerting upon their defence - it took me back to the domination that we displayed in the 80s and 90s. So overall we are not there yet but we are well on our way.
premature..... just look at the opposition!!! its just about the bottom 5.. now i grant you its a lot better than 0-0 sterile draws that we used to see sides coming to get.
in fariness to tobes I do agree... though having been quite unlucky at woodison i can't wait to hammer everton at anfield cos they are the sort of "small club" we have been hammering #friendlybanter is that how this hashtag bollox is done.. first and last time i'll do it.
