Well done Saints, more than I could have hoped for. Great determination and commitment. Five academy players, nine British and gave the multimillion pound City team a scare, Lallana, Cork, Davis and Shaw all impressive.
Great performance...if not for a couple misses and some terrific last-ditch challenges by City defenders, we could have had three or four. On to yet another tough test against Newcastle.
Great performance. Cork proving he is AT LEAST on a par with Wanyama, if not slightly better in my opinion.
That's a magnificent draw that we deserved to win. Let's not do this down - we were all expecting a battering today against a stunning attacking force who are flying right now. We outfought, outplayed, outworked and out-pretty-much-everythinged them today despite all our injuries. Brilliant. Now THAT was the Pochettino Southampton that we know and love.
A really great performance given our injury list, Shaw, Cork and Lallana were the standouts for me, and it's really incredible to think we used 5 academy products that game, 4 of whom were 19 or younger. I thought Chambers looked a lot more assured than at the beginning at the season, although he seems fairly weak to pace and struggles to retain his position when he gets beaten, although he looks really strong and has intelligent attacking movement for a fullback. Also good to see Ramirez involved again, although he didn't really get a chance to impose himself, I hope he can become a useful member of the squad in the future.
Very entertaining game and impressed with the confidence of the team despite the injuries. Thought they all did a good job. Ill take that result and hope we can get a good run going again now we look as though we are back to our old selves
They accomplish the same job differently, but Jack did very well today. That was the Jack Cork I remember and appreciate. He's going to get plenty of chance to stake a claim now.
Good result, felt we probably deserved to win though. Pleased for the players who stepped in for the injured lot, they all performed well, particularly the midfield. Yaya Touré hardly had a touch. Shaw, Chambers, Cork, Ward-Prowse, Davis, Lallana and Rodriguez all excellent today, and Osvaldo's goal wasn't too shabby either.
Consensus from the Blue Moon forums: thoroughly outplayed by Southampton's reserves and relieved to get a point.
