Not sure what to think of that half! I feel like WBA could have been comfortably ahead the way they're taking our left hand side to pieces, but for all that they haven't really created that many gilt-edged chances. The goal was one of the best we've scored this season, that Hooper-Fer link up was lovely, and the finish was superb. However, Olsson is being left really exposed down the left as there's no natural wide player ahead of him, so WBA regularly have a 2v1. Fer's having a poor game too, and Howson's largely anonymous. On the plus side, Elmander and Bassong have looked really good, and Whittaker is supporting Redmond well, if Redmond would only find him. Second half, I wouldn't be surprised to see Garrido come on at some point for a midfielder/striker to help shore up the left, with Olsson pushed to left midfield.
IF - big IF - we can hang on to this, maybe this will save Hughton's job, at least until Christmas. Let's see.
I was hoping for a slightly more comfortable 2nd half. Got a lot of defending to do this half. How astute of Steve Clarke to make some substitutions to try and change the game at half time
