Giles Clarke is the ECB Chairman. Here's a link to an article about it................ http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket...r-hostile-gabba-reception-20131204-2yr5x.html
Cant get the link to show ATM but I'm tempted to think that Stroller has got it spot on. He was getting some stick on the radio this morning !! Cheers nines
You spot on there mate, I think this first innings could define the whole tour. Like we said yesterday, we MUST get something out of this. Dont want to be going to the MCG & SCG needing wins. Few people starting to feel a bit confident down here. Need to get under the skin of the press & players and show some fight. Lets hope our batsmen can perform. 3 draws will do nicely for me, thanks very much
298-5, this one seems to be getting away from us. Anderson on now, let's hope he can make a breakthrough otherwise I fear we could be out of it...
I think you could be right there mate. There seems to be a major shift in the England camp. Something's not right. It seems like they're just going through the motions. There's definitely a lack of fire in their bellies. Strange.
I don't think they've recovered from the 1st Test, that was an emphatic thrashing and their confidence looks dented. The opposite applies to the Aussies, they're up for it and Clarke is now looking ominous along with Haddin who always seems to get runs against us. Not looking promising...
UPDATE ------- Clarke out for 148 ............ Haddin on 86 .................. Aussies - 6 for 457 Queens, whether the guy is English or Aussie, he is a knob cause if England had won, we wouldn't have heard jack. The people of Brisbane / Queensland are pretty fair people and would not give any unwarranted stick to travelling teams. They may play hard but I trust they play fair. The guy needs to have the clock wound back, face a couple from Thommo or Lillee ..................... then he would have reason to complain.
Totally agree mate. I didnt think they got any special treatment that they didnt expect & only the papers were a bit off.
England are truly ****ed! Cook came across as a complete whimp in the lead up to the test by saying that he and Clarke had a responsibility to not let things get out of hand etc. The Aussies just said...."more of the same". We're surrendering this series with hardly any fight.
Problem is it is now something like 20 innings since we reached 400 and that is 5 sessions at least of batting to get that, something we haven't done or looked like doing in ages. Our only hope is that Root & Carberry can bat through till lunch and show how flat and lifeless the pitch is so that the rest will have the confidence to play the right shot and save the follow on. 5 sessions would get us to tea on day 4 which is the minimum requirement to make a draw the likely result.
Agreed absolutely......we've given the aussies huge confidence since the Oval Test allowing them to dictate almost each days play. We have to wrest some of that initative back and batting for 2 days and getting close to parity with them would tell them we are no pushovers.....
Root bothers me, he looks like a walking wicket at the moment. He needs to play some shots and take the initiative.
They are too defensive at the moment thinking about staying at the crease instead of playing shots and keeping the scoreboard ticking over. Almost paralysis for fear of getting out.....
England only need one person to stand up and the team as a whole, will pick up. It's all fine being happy & cheery with his fellow team mates when things are going well but as a captain, when the chips are down, there is no greater time for him to show his grit. This moment of time will either make him or break him ........ The captain MUST set an example for his men.
