Dowie took us down, but you know, I loved what Phil Brown achieved for us all, but he got under my skin with his antics. Maybe where I live made him a bit of an embarrassment to me, so my problem to be honest. His tactics drove me scatty, but hey, mine would have made him have a proper chortle. But when I heard him speak against the name-change on MOTD2, he won me over. He spoke well, he covered the bases and he didn't back-off. Congratulations Phil Brown, from a converted doubter.
Well done Phil. He deserves to be in charge of a team at a higher level. Hope this is the beginning of his comeback.
Considering he lost the dressing room and any tactical aptitude by the time he was replaced I would say he has.
I always thought McClaren was a decent manager, and he got the England job at precisely the wrong time. It's sad that people base his abilities on just that job, because if you look at what he did at Boro and Twente he is clearly a very good manager. I hope Derby go up to be honest.
Brownie is doing excellent at Southend, pretty sure they are under some kind of transfer embargo. On Mclaren i think he is a very good manager, just got the job at the wrong time in terms of the England one. Done well at Boro and FC Twente and started very well at Derby. He will do well to keep them in the play offs, some better teams in the division.
As David Moyes is finding out, this management lark is not as clear cut an straightforward as it appears. How come BB failed at Forest yet thrives 15 miles down the road at a very similar club? Derby going like the clappers now, with him in charge.
Generally, people slag McLaren because the media tell them to. I’m glad to see him doing well and wouldn’t mind to see Derby promoted. Leicester seem to be starting their slump early this season and even though I’m actually neutral towards LCFC, it’ll be a treat for me to see Pearson **** up again. Burnley still doing well although I can’t see them lasting – plus maybe a bad omen for our second season if they go up. Reading charge halted as well by AFC B. Would prefer Forest to remain put too although I’d suppose I’ll take anyone going up providing Leeds and Pearson miss out.
