There is a lot of hype surrounding Charlie Adam, I personally love his free-kicks. We haven't had a free- kick specialist since Beckham, a good decade ago. Ronaldo was quite literally hit and miss.

I really don't like Gibson, but then again I didn't like Fletcher back in the day. Gibson has a fantastic shot, I'll give you that, Adam has better passing range and a better free-kick.

If Gibson was in the Blackpool team would he have had the same success?

So, if we sold Gibson and bought Adam, would be an improvement or a waste of money? Would you rejoice or be disappointed?

Sorry, the poll should be: Gibson, Adam, neither.
We really need a goalscoring midfielder, who would be your choice? None English out there atm.

    Adam>Gibson

I like gibson as a bloke, but his play is average even though he seems to possess potential. This wonder-shot he has also seems to have become more of a myth, when was the last time we saw it?

Adam. Not the world class player some like to pretend he is, but Gibson is not in his league. I happily do a swap with blackpool. Not sure ian holloway would.

he's scored 4 times. One goos shot against Hull seems to have given him enough reputation that skying the ball 3 or 4 times per game means nothing.

Adam is hugely overrated. Blackpool last season were anything but a one-man team.

He reminds me of Lee Trundle. Skilful for his level, but won't cut it at a higher level.

If we replaced Gibson with Adam I honestly wouldn't give a flying ****. We'd have replaced our 5th choice central midfielder with a player who would probably be 3rd or 4th choice midfielder at best.

If Gibson was anymore average, he'd have to change his name to Joe.

    Adam>Gibson!!

I'm a Northern Ireland fan and if anyone knows the background here, I am pretty much meant to HATE him - but I don't. I fully understand his reasons for choosing to play for ROI and respect his decision. So I base my opinion on how he performs for United. And tbh I don't think he's been that bad and if he goes to Sunderland, I wish him all the best. He has been our 6th (or 7th) choice midfielder and has always given his all when called upon. I couldn't ask for more. I wouldn't want "Big Time" Charlie Adam anywhere near our team. Watching him set up goals galore for Blackpool's opposition in the second half of last season, whilst still being praised, damn near brought me to tears. At least Gibson knows his limitations, even if he is a bit greedy around the box. Whichever top team signs Adam will regret it.

If Gibson's decision to play for ROI was politically motivated, then that's another reason why I'm happy for him to leave United and take his angry face with him. Surprised Celtic haven't come in for him.

And you're right, Charlie Adam is "Big Time". Makes me think of those socks-rolled-down Scottish "entertainers" of the 70s and 80s, who had the skills but not the professionalism to cut it at the highest level. Will be very surprised if Adam makes it at a big club.

As I see it Gibsons just not made the United grade.

No shame in that, loads dont make it, hes given it a shot and shown glimpses.

Hes not the best player to fail at United. No that honour goes to Juan Sebastian Veron.

how exactly was it politically motivated? hes playing for the team that has at least got something going for it.they beat wales, scotland and NI without breaking a sweat and beat italy 2-0 last week with their kids.gibson made the right decision for his international career-at least this way he may one day get to a major international tournament-NI are utterly hopeless.

How do people think Charlie Adam is over rated? Some even think he isn't good enough for this level? He would be a great signing for Liverpool or Tottenham. He can pick a pass from 50 yards, he can split a defence open with a pass and his set pieces are brilliant. He's good in the tackle as well. He is definitely this level and I won't be surprised in the slightest to see him sign for one of those sides. Not good enough for a top 4 side though. Miles better than Gibson.
