i always thought he was gay, but back then it was a big no no to come out and say you was gay, esp in the public eye and music industry, so a lot of them back then was in denial as too scared to come out.

only one i can think of who got away with it was Boy George, Freddie,George etc tried to pretend they wasn't as it would damage their public image, that's what it felt like any way, maybe wrong lol.
