What was yours? The first time I went abroad was to Malta in 1981. The first week I was violently ill with food poisoning but the second week was fantastic. But my favourite place I have been to on holiday is Prague. Stunning city and fantastic architecture.
Prague's my fave too ER. Beautiful place and only 40p a pint (back in 2002 anyway). The birds are class too.
I was there in 97 and 98. The lager beers (can't call them lagers does not do them justice) are absolutely fantastic.
Staropramen and Pilsner Urquell. Lovely stuff. Good shout Beale for Rome. Great place, quite chilled for a capital city too. The Colloseum was brilliant and the Swiss Guards' uniforms at the Vatican were funny.
Alsace 2009 - Strasbourg is a charming city and the little villages and towns around are brilliant. There's a spectacular castle which is about 300 metres up a mountain side which was one of the highlights. the food and wine were great and the people were absolutely charming. I'd go back again.
