You were saying <doh> This is a general discussion thread about Mandela, not a tribute or showing one's respect thread!

I know, but you're not discussing Mandela, you're banging on about something that happened on a thread months ago.

Ironic, considering you are clearly on an agenda to derail this thread.

I am sorry that my BANGING ON about a soldier brutally murdered on the streets of london is spoiling your 30,000+ posts of all things important! Could those people that are against CTWD say the same to you BANGING ON! MULTI threads!

Please dont lecture me about banging on and what is in good taste!

If you read about South African history, the Boer elite, the formation of the ANC, etc - you will begin to understand just why Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) was formed. Then you may be better able to 'work out' just why Mandela was labelled 'terrorist' and who by.

What do you think his favourite delicacy for breakfast was?

I reckon he had a secret craving for cinnamon grahams using a big spoon but probably ate a big hearty salad in company

It's why he was always raging

You are correct but the blinkered comments by some on here who think he was some sort of kindly old man is staggering, the MK division of the ANC was responsible for thousands of killings all in the name of anti apartheid.
much in the same way as the IRA tried to unite Ireland but I don't suppose the world will lionize Gerry Adams.

He was a murdering terrorist who never renounced violence, sang racist white songs, and even murdered black policemen because he thought they were on the sides of the white rulers.

What do they say, yesterday's terrorist is today's freedom fighter, a bit like Al Queda who the UK once funded to fight the Russians in Afghan.

If you look at the thread, you can see from the public, never mind private messages that it was far from my agenda. As you expect nothing to happen as a consequence of your posts, I'm only too happy to oblige. <ok>

All a sad story, they were admittedly reduced to violence for all the right reasons. They had it right at the start doing sabotage missions. But they had to go off planting bombs in shopping centres and other public venues killing hundreds of innocents including women and children in cold blood. He was correctly labelled a terrorist, and I hope he finds his peace in hell.

You are both right, but Mandela was only a fighter because of what the whites were doing to the blacks, and it is a human reaction to fight against this. However in time and the older he became, not unlike Gerry Adams and the IRA, he realised that this was not winning the battle. He in my eyes takes great credit for realising that the only way for SA to be at peace was for him not to show revenge, and in doing this there is no doubt a blood bath was avoided.
