He's got great potential and him staying would be a very positive thing for Rangers.

This is exactly the kind of signing I would like to see us make.

I do agree with you on this but remember the older players that we have signed are for the now and hopefully will make our future and possibly partially for the future!! Don't underestimate this!

Carroll is for now and the future. I dont think many would prefer to sign Jenas or Oneill over him in the summer but you never know, some people just want to go against whatever I say for the sake of it.

We cant keep on signing older players as stop gaps and getting in 10+ players every summer. Maybe 2-3 in their 30s in the team and 5-6 in the squad. We have at least a dozen right now but surely we arent going to give SWP, Zamora and some others a new contract.

Never thought I'd hear myself saying this, but if Barton continues to approach the game as he has this season, he'd be a good role model for Carrol because he's been dominant in midfield, never becomes invisible like one or two of our players on occasion, and plays the whole 90 minutes at full pace.

But still wasn't that good IMO. His looked okay when paired with Faurlin and that's not going to happen again any time soon. Jury is out - bags of potential but needs to start delivering. It could be his slight stature prevents him stepping up to the very top level.

My thoughts exactly. He surely does give something to the team....but I can't quite put my finger on what.
Every Spurs supporter bar none I have spoken to, rave about him and tell me that we have got a fantastic player in young Tom. At the moment, as with Aaaaagh....my jury is out.

Looks like one for the future but does look a bit lightweight and needs to be a bit quicker in possession. A few times on tues he got caught out and against stronger teams he could struggle. Get in that gym Tom.

Yeah, I know. But something, may be marriage, fatherhood and/or Harry's management has calmed the guy down, and as we've seen this season, when the negatives are removed, there's much to be praised. I have him as our most influential player so far this Championship campaign.

Carroll is young and has a bright future, I think his real problem at the moment is his size, he'd benefit from bulking out a bit as at the moment he's to easy to bundle off the ball.

But he seems to be covering his bases as I saw another story yesterday saying he wants to break into the spurs first team, and seeing as we seem to be the starting point for spurs youngsters he has a good chance.

But he would be the ideal kind of signing we need to make.

I can only assume you had reset your typewriter on 'manual' mode.
To use 'Barton' and 'Role model' in the one sentence would normally send your keyboard into overload and short the fuse board.

In saying that, Barton does deserve much credit for his efforts and overall team ethics this season ............ ( I'm struggling with short of breath just collating this sentence and the hard drive on the computer blinking all over the place )
