Am i the only one getting fed up with lazy reporters referring to emerging players as the "new" so and so.

Henderson is apparently the "new" Gerrard.. Remember Valencia going to Utd and being described as the "new" Ronaldo and Chamakh at Arsenal being described as the "new" Henry!!!

Why can't these player's, be allowed to be themselves? Do reporters think we are all incapable of forming our own opinions?

(Sorry Sunday morning H/O level 3..need sugar!!)

Sports writers are getting sloppier and sloppier. I'm not even sure it can be called journalism anymore...

    Iv always hated this.

Before the Champions League final they said Nani could play the 'Messi Role', but if any thing it was the Ronaldo role.

Bruno Cheyrou and the new Zidane.

They shouldn't be compared to other players who have been playing at the top-level for years. Puts too much pressure on them.

All news is the same generic bollox. if you take away the headlines on BBC sport the articles all read the same, same mispelling and deplorable use of the english language by a journalist. it is not good when you are constantly correcting the crap english in your head when reading articles.

I think when BBC get a new journa they are given templates, {place team name here}and so on:)

Ryan Giggs was called the ''New George Best''.Well he got two parts right so far.He beat the crap out of Davinia Taylor. He can't keep it in his pants,He could yet end up in prison for telling porkies. All he has to do now is become an alcoholic and waste two livers, then he will be the ''New George Best.''

Hate this aswell, too much 'the new..', its just boring, wouldn't mind them combining certain player's attributes, for example, 'So and so has the finishing of Ronaldo, the vision of Scholes, yet his pace would make even the likes of Sol Campbell look fast'..

Although that would get annoying after abit too.

Yeah. One of the many reasons Zinedine Zidane chose to have his son use his mother's maiden name over his own.

Yes it is. As stated before an injunction is to stop a story coming out not to say it isn't true. Therefore where hav the porkies come into it ?

Where do the porkies come into it.
Well he told the courts that he was a 'faithful family man' ' to get an injunction in the first place when in reality he was servicing his sister in law.So he was telling porkies. Now in law, thats purjery and it will all come out in November when the injunction is lifted and he gets sued by Imogen and then is prosecuted which may result in a prison sentence that carries a maximum of seven years inside.

How do you know what he told the courts. If he was faithful then he wouldn't have needed the injunction.

He got the injuction on the basis there was no public interest in the story getting out not because he claimed it was a lie.

He got the injuction under the pretence that he was a happily married man and that any adverse publicity could affect his relationship with his wife.
