Will we be saying the same thing in a year or two about White? It's easy to criticise out of form players and praise in form players although I don't care how much form White has I still think he lacks any talent as a footballer and should of gone for 100/200m instead.
Sorry to be late on this. Last night was a competent performance and we deserved our victory, the early goal helped. I am getting used to this don't worry and let the opposition have the ball system Brian is using. As an old school believer in they don't like it up em, so get stuck in it still seems strange. From the half hour to the hour we seemed happy to mark and not tackle. Not until the south stand started to grumble did we start closing down and putting a tackle in. As soon as we did Wigan fell apart. How did the doctor miss, why didn't he pass left or right. Only another seven wins and we don't get relegated. Remember as wilco said, sort that first then see what else we can do. Old Cnut face was pissed in Billy's bar twice last week, security will be throwing out next time according to the "legendary" ex player who still has a role at the club that I was talking to yesterday.
I'm pretty certain he said he was injured for the game around 2 or 3 weeks ago. That doesn't mean he is injured now, I'm not gonna comment on whether he is a good trainer or not as I do not know but I don't think he suits BMD's style of play and I don't think he is good enough to get into our team. You could argue that he is good enough for the bench but I prefer different options from the bench like the pace of Poleon and the height of Smith, he is too similar to Ross except for me Ross gets the goals that he doesn't. If Ross was to get injured then I think he might come back into contention
I'm inclined to agree with you up to a point, Josh. I do think his 'starting' days are over for us. I do however think he offers something different from the bench - he can come on to slow a game down, if nothing else. We don't really have players that can put their foot on the ball. I disagree though that he is like Rossco. Couldn't be more different IMO.
I think he is very much like how Ross played for us under warnock. Had the composure to put a foot on the ball and pick passes and set-up goals, Ross was the top assists last season for that very reason, he still does it but now gets himself into goalscoring positions as well. But as for having him on the bench or not, I would prefer to have players on the bench that can come on and up the tempo and worry teams in case we are losing rather than have a player there who can close a game out if we are winning, just a personal preference really.
I stand corrected - Diouff is not injured! http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/latest-whites-news/leeds-united-diouf-has-to-fight-to-get-into-team-mac-1-6300063 Brian McDermott has again insisted that El-Hadji Diouf is on a “level playing field” with the rest of his players as the forward waits for a recall to Leeds United’s squad. McDermott said Diouf, inset, was the “same as everyone else here” after an injury to Dexter Blackstock raised fresh questions about the Senegalese international’s prolonged absence from United’s season. Diouf – a two-time African player of the year – has not featured for Leeds since early October and was missing from Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic despite the swollen knee which forced Blackstock to sit out. Leeds are yet to receive a full diagnosis of Blackstock’s injury but United suspect that the striker has damaged knee cartilage, a setback which might cut short his three-month loan from Nottingham Forest. Diouf is one of the players who McDermott could turn to in an attempt to reinforce United’s attacking options at home to Watford tomorrow, and the Leeds boss said: “He’s part of the squad. He’s got to try and get himself into the team, like everyone else. He’s the same as everyone else here and you could have asked that question about Danny Pugh or Michael Brown, players like that. He’s got a chance. He just has to train right, play in the reserves when he has to and do the right things. Everyone’s on a level playing field.” Diouf’s contract expires at the end of this season and his lack of appearances will leave a question mark over his future when the transfer window opens.
That question Maye be answered in a couple of weeks when the extra cash arrives. Don't be surprised if he starts making a few appearances then
I can't see him playing to be honest. Unless he gets back into training, back into the gym for leg muscle and power building to give him some speed back, and shows his worth in the Development Squad. It sounds like an attitude issue. Whgever he has come on this season he has not really changed anything or added value. If our backs are to the wall, he is not a great defender, and when we are looking to get back into a game and create chances or catch a team on the break, he slows it down too much. It seems to me that McD prefers us to break quick and catch defences out through movement, very much opposite to Warnocks style which suited Diouf better. I like him, I just don't think his play (at his age now) fits with our style now.
Diouf did a job for us last season, time for us to look for someone younger and better now and move on, allow his contract to expire and get someone else in.
