Jones already agreed personal terms with Man Utd and passed his medical.

Yeah you're probably right. The deal looks too far gone to be honest.

This is the most sensible quote in the whole topic.

It all depends on the details of the contract, which we don't know.

United claim it a minimum release clause which they have met. If the is true then any other club could offer 50 mill and it wouldn't make any difference.

Blackburn are now claiming it a minimum fee to speak to the playerr not to sign him - this however is unheard of in football to my knowledge.

All in all it could get messy

Pretty sure he will end up at utd but you can guarantee that this has cost utd a lot of money one way or another.

As for utd having £180M to spend, I would be amazed if utd spend over £50M nett, so this could mean they offload a couple to raise funds eg berba, despite being top scorer he does not seem happy at utd and does not appear to be first choice in fergies mind.

There might be some truth to it, who knows? But yes, he has agreed personal terms with Utd and said he wants to go there. My gut feeling is as MUFC Jimbo says, it's just Blackburn after more money and using the other teams as pawns in their little game.

He chose the mancs so we don't want him.

In the words of Kevin Keegan, I would LOVE IT if this were true, only because the Mail ran an article the other day Mancs 2-0 Liverpool, as they had reportedly beat us to Ashley Young and Jones. No mention given to how we had beaten them to Henderson.

I wouldn't hold it against the lad, that he prefers the mancs, not everyone likes to gamble, and the mancs will be seen as a safer bet for success by many.

    <doh> Jesus Christ.

It doesn't matter if Liverpool come in with a £30 million bid. There's a clause in his contract that he can talk to other clubs if they meet that fee, and will be sold for that amount should he agree personal terms, which he has. It's not a case of which bid Venky's would rather accept, as soon as it goes above £16 million, they have no say in the matter. If clubs are looking to get him for £12 million or so, then they have every right to get more money. But not when the release clause has already been met.

"Man Utd now have to offer more than the £22 million Liverpool have offered"
    <laugh>

Why? We've already met the release clause in his contract. Venky's no longer have a say if this goes ahead or not. It's out of their hands due to the contractual fee being met.

If they didn't intend to sell for that price then they should have been a bit more vigilant about details in his contract and removed the clause.

The only one that could have prevented this transfer going through was Jones, by not agreeing terms. Unfortunately for you, he already has.

    You thick bastard.

But if someone came in with a larger offer and wage packet; that's a cause to delay agreeing personal terms and atleast consider the larger offer.

He's apparently been offered £80,000 p/w, giving him the biggest contract a teenager in this country has received.

He's already snubbed you and Arsenal once. Are you going to double the wages we offered to make up for the lack of CL football?

His heart is set on United. Future United and England captain <ok>

Erm no we haven't, Raaaul. The only fee we have to meet is to pay the £16.5 million release clause, a clause that if met means Blackburn are legally obliged to push this deal through. All this talk about us having to offer more comes from a couple of owners who don't understand how a release clause works.

There is nothing simple or straightforward about either contract law or contract negotiations. The fact that Jones has agreed personal terms is neither here or there. At this point Blackburn still hold the players registration and are free to consider bids from any other club if they so wish.

The apparent reluctance of Blackburn to sign a contract for the sale of Jones may have nothing to do with the terms of Jones's contract but to the effect that the sale may have on other Blackburn contracts e.g. sponsorship. None of us will ever know what the truth is.

If Jones wants to go to united then it is up to him, his agent and Blackburn and United to sort it out.

As for LFC. Well he wants to go to United so I don't want him at Anfield. However LFC are puting down a marker that they are serious in their player negotiations.

Personally I can't see him being all that's he predicted to be. That's not me judging him down because he's set to be a Man United player, but those stats when compared to Scott Dann (only 3 years older than him) are pitiful. Scott seems better in 9/10 departments but because he played for Birmingham he'll never get the proper recognition.

Anyway, well done if you get him. Make sure he gets some game time though, the quicker John Terry is out of the England squad the better.

Gott a love idiot generalisation comments about contracts those who speak of them have never seen, those contracts.

it is all in the wording and if you aint seen the wording it is best you shut yer mouth about it Jordan, talking like you know what the **** you are on about. How can you shoot down speculative comments with speculative comments you tard even if they are luckily accurate

Besidses it looks as though KPR was bang on, if United pay 20m the proof was indeed in the pudding

We didn't even want him with that £22m bid, you really think we'd up our offer by £6m without anyone asking?

Dalglish was making Ferguson pay more, it's all part of the mind games, which Dalglish has trumped Ferguson twice at already and I can see it happening for a third time.

<laugh> I have to say Dalglish is the master of Mind games.

"Talk to this one, you'll get more sense out of her than you will out of him" He says carrying his 6 month old baby.

He's going to United. It's in the Daily Mail so I wouldn't believe what they write and like everybody else has said, the deal seems just about completed. He's a good player as well.

So you're telling me that Dalglish doesn't want Jones and the only reason he bid is because he wanted to piss off Fergie and make us pay more? What the hell do you think this is? Get real will 'ya. How has he trumped Fergie twice already? By beating us at Anfield? Dalglish = typical Scouser. If he concentrated on his own team more than United he might have some success.

Has Fergie trumped Dalglish to the signing of Young? Or was that also a ploy by "The King" to make us pay more?

This thing with Jones, Henry Kenny both knew well he wanted to go to United, what Henry and Kenny did was piss Fergie off no end making United cough up another few bob, Well done lads!!!

Jones abviously wants to pair up with smalling, all sources say he wants to go to United, so surely if we can figure out he will go surely Kenny and Henry would know this even more so?? So yeah it looked like aploy to piss off United, Henry has a history of this, looks like he wants to rattle a few cages and Kenny would no doubt love to piss fergie off..

Make no mistake though, if he then chose Liverpool we would have signed him, we arent saying we only made the bid to piss United off, getting Jones would have pissed em off even further, but costing them 4m extra by our intervention is good enough for me:)
