Alan Shearer might have been a great striker but he's a woeful pundit. His comments after the game yesterday were hopelessly biased. What should Ben do, have his arm chopped off so the ball can't hit it? The hypocrisy is staggering. I agree with an earlier comment, the punditry on Motd is pants. I use it as an excuse to go and get a cup of tea of raid the fridge again. We dominated that game last night. The first half was tight because Newcastle parked two buses across the park. Strangely we looked a lot better when Vasquez went off (he's poor, isn't he?). With Dyer and Pablo on the 2 flanks, and Pozeulo and Shelvey pushing on down the middle, we had a lot more bite and looked much more dangerous. The second half was all us. We could have scored 6 or 7. The best we've played in a long time, and the team performance we all know we're capable of. Super swans! So what praise do we get from Motd? We beat a team in 6th place, on a run of 4 consecutive wins, with all our 3 strikers injured, while trying to juggle the Europa League games, and we win 3-0, and we thrashed them, and ... that k**b Shearer just wants to bleat on about a shot that hits our player's arm from point-blank range. What a t**t. In fairness to Lineker, he did have the final word after Shearer's bleating. Lineker said, "But it was a great result for Swansea wasn't it?". At least one person in the studio saw it right.
Have to agree re post match comments on MOTD and BTSports at least the good looking french guy (well so my wife says ) got the last word in saying Swans played great football and deserved it. I hope Pardew had his chat with Howard Webb and Howard told him exactly what happened. Blimey ML could spend all his time having cosy post match chats with refs if behaved like Pardew.
No mention of Debucy being already on a yellow then taking down Shelvey before getting the ball , or the persistent cynical tackles on De Guzman and the two footed one on Pablo ,but the result was the one we wanted and deserved and thats what will be recorded for posterity so who cares .
I don't have a problem with the punditry being seen as biased against us. Frankly,I'd rather bank the points than listen to some sweet words in lieu. We received a lot of compliments/analysis in previous seasons,so now it's time to let them talk about other teams. But spare a thought for poor old Cardiff. The only time they get a mention is when someone wants to know when the bus is coming!!!
I actually think Shearer is normally pretty fair. He's praised Sunderland and criticised the Toon in equal measure in the past. But last night the summary was absolutely dire. Concentrating on a few incidents when in fact we deserved the win anyway was criminal. In fairness I think that a lot of it had to do with the time they had to spend on each game. With so many games and so many goals it was always going to be difficult to squeeze it all in. But I also agree that too much time is given to the bigger teams at the expense of the rest. Could be worse - we used to be on the Football League Show. Good to see that most agree with my assessment - Debuchy should have gone for that terrible challenge on Pablo. Again, no mention of that on MOTD.
The last couple of seasons saw most pundits drooling over our style of play. We are no longer getting that level of coverage, and some are finding that difficult to deal with.
I'm quite happy us not being the new kids on the block as some of the pressure is off the team , some pundits were drooling at the start of the season regarding us finishing in the stop 6 , unwelcome expectations imo .But last nights commentary on BT sport and Motd was chronic to focus purely on what went wrong for Newcastle and dismissing our teams performance was classless and biased in the extreme .
I will say I was wrong with my forecast Im glad to say .it must have been a good game and to win 3 0 ,Id go on to say play like that v Hull and we could score say 4 , and thats with out our main strikers, As you say Swans why not give the lad Donnelly a go as we are 3 down now after last night. The hull game could be his making.
It is very frustrating that the way we played at times last night has passed everyone by apart from those that watched it live either at the game or on BT. Even then the more biased commentators seem to be bitching about the Toon rather than saying how good we were. I really hate the Barca comparisons because they are multiple levels above us but there were echoes of their style at times. The interchanging of passes to create openings was a joy to watch even if the attacks fizzled out. For the first time this season we really looked like our old selves.

Great post goodland, and spot on, but if you think that MOTD was poor or biased, then you wouldn't want to have seen the two idiots on BT! They were so Biased, it was unbelievable, and it was only the Frenchman that gave us credit for the great game we played, but then we have had this biased garbage for decades, nothing new, just getting more obvious!................
It's just been reported an TalkShite that our Shelvey will not face any retrospective action from the FA for his head motion towards Debuchy because it does not constitute violent conduct and the ref was on the scene as the incident unfolded. That's that then.. Happy days.
That doesn't alter the fact that he should NEVER,EVER do that again. Someone needs to have a quiet word with him, He has so much talent,he is letting himself down with such behaviour.
I agree Vetch, it brings the club into disrepute in my view, I'm sure he'll be talked too, as it could seriously cost us with a different ref!...............
Shelvey is on track to either become the next Gerrard or Joey Barton. He oozes natural talent, but his temper might get the better of him. Wieghorst should be able to help him onto the right track. He has a long track record of working with young talent and getting the best out of them - Bryan Oviedo being the most famous case at the moment. As I understand it the whole reason for bringing him to Swansea is to mold the young stars into future class players. So I view this as two careers in the balance, either Shelvey and Wieghorst will be lauded or ...
Agreed Dragon. I meant to say letting himself and the Club down. All this agreeing,Knackered will be bursting with jealousy!!!
