there is no poll as I am a lazy ****er In 2000 leeds played galatasary at ellend rd, Georghe Hagi was playing. he was ****ing ancient but also unbelievable and ran the show
Celtic played Milan a few years back when Kaka was at his peak. I still rate his performance that night as the best I have seen in the flesh for one team Seen Messi and Ronaldo, but dont feel either played that well in front of my eyes. Not debating their talent- just on those occasions they did nowt Eric Cantona on a few occasions too was class And Henrik & Lubo of course. I actually feel Chris Sutton was head and shoulders above any in a Celtic shirt at a game I was present IMO - cant recall who against. on that day of course, he was outstanding. Others have eclipsed his performances like Henrik - but I wasnt there - so dont count
Seen a good few. Ronaldinho, Henry, Riquelme, Broadfoot, Ronaldo (new) but the best has to be Luis Suarez. He's the man
Forgot about Broadfoot to be fair. Tought by Beckenbauer himself - Franz wont admit it as Broadfoot eclipsed him of course
Did broadfoot get in there for a magical dive that good the ref never saw it. The best performances against Celtic have actually come in scottish matches , Eric Black hat trick for Aberdeen , Wullie Miller for his ability to play and ref the game at the same time and Paul Sturrock always produced the goods against us . In europe it was teams that hammered us not individuals , psg in 95 beat us 3-0 and in 92/93 the deluded huns thought they had the best team , they normally beat us 1-0 with a soft pen or a deflection , well that year we played Dortmund and we couldn't get the ball of them .
Too many to pick one, we were lucky at Celtic over a decade to see practically all the greats of the modern game, the Milan team in particular stands out for me as Maldini, Nesta, Costacurta, Rui Costa and Shevchenko in his prime were some outfit, they brought on Seedorf, Kaka and Crespo off the bench. Mcgeady really burst on the scene that night and probably hasnt performed as well since. Now that was a Milan team, they also had Cafu and Pirlo at that time I think, a million miles from the ****e we got pumped by recently. Pirlo for me is something else, but he seems to be getting better with age and I havent seen him in the flesh for a long time. One player who wasnt as big a name and wont be remembered by many, but was one of the most naturally gifted I seen at Parkhead was Prosinecki at Croatia Zagreb. What a beautiful player he was. He only played for Real Madrid but naw he's unheard of. I think everyone older than 15 will remember him.
Hes a croation Legend, but most ****s ive come across in these kinda debates cant remember him, although they are mostly early 20s, he was pretty old when I seen him at Parkhead. Maybe I should rephrase to, wont be spoken of by many when talking about the best players theyve seen at Parkhead
He played for Barcelona too I think and finished up at Portsmouth or somewhere ****e did he not? He was class mind. Knocked about the same time as Zvonimir Boban who was equally class
Perhaps I'm being unfair. I remember being at a friendly against Red Star in the centenary year on boxing day and he played that day So I seen him before he was a big name. A guy call Scojikovic or something their number 9 was unbelievable that day.
Werent Red Star one of the best in Europe at that time, before my time but my dad always says the Yugoslavs were class.
If they wanted to they could have put loads past us that day. They were the best I had seen at that point.
I can say who I've seen play the best and that is a toss up between Kaka and Roy Keane. As for the best player Ronaldinho, Ronaldo or Messi. They just didn't show up when I was in town. I saw Emmanuel Petit play a ****ing blinder once.... In an otherwise drab 0-0.
Was at that red star game , utter class , around the same time Hamburg gave us a run around in a friendly as well . On the back of that we bought Mark Mghee
