I saw on a few different websites this morning that Peter Crouch has turned down Sunderland and wants to stay in London and fight for his place at Spurs. Can we please stop stalking this lad now Brucie, its getting embarrasing now. Just walk away with what dignity you have left and look to pastures new Steve. Crouch ain't coming! More worryingly for us, is another target basically saying he would rather eat his own right testicle than come to us!

No, its a player who showed us respect by coming to talk but deciding it was London for him and his missus saying he still wants London, whats wrong with that?

Up to him, not really bothered.

Let him stay where he is, and fight for his place.

I'm happy either way TBH, he's a decent player but we can get others who are as good or better than him

Personally I`m glad the lad prefers to be in the south, Had he came here, and his missus, not been happy, he would have obviously been unsettled, and that affects the team as a whole, I also think there are better players out there, who will come and join u.... Now the easy bit,,,, we just got to find them.

I never thought for a minute that he would sign for us and TBH, I'm glad he has turned down the offer. His best days are behind him now, so he'll be happy to be a bit part player at Spurs.

    We can do better.

What he said. It's kinda getting embarassing we keep trying for him when it's obvious he doesn't fancy it. Should just forget the lanky streak of piss.

Remember all the times we were linked to Robbie Keane? He's decided he wouldn't mind coming to us when he realises that no other clubs want him.

So long as their Bella is flashing her hooters on the catwalks of London, he dare not leave Abby alone in the smoke. Well, not with ****ing John 'rat up a drainpipe' Terry and Ryan 'shag-a-warm-scarf' Giggs on the prowl anyway.

Seriously though, Crouch is a top quality player in my eyes and I cant understand anyone sayong he is ****e. He is a proven performer at the very top and for me would start EVERY England game for his record alone. However, we all knew he wouldnt come as he ahs turned us down before and nowt has changed. If we were in Europe? Maybe but not at the moment.

We can move on though and other irons will be in the fire. I'd take Arry for £20m for Gyan (see my post on spleen venting) and use it to build with.

I reckon Crouch is nowt special, just good for his height. As for Gyan, if Man City can ask £20m for Sturridge we can ask £40m for Gyan.
I reckon our most important aim is a midfield playmaker, anyway.

    Just ripped from SSN......

Tottenham strikers Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko are happy at White Hart Lane and have no plans to leave North London this summer.

England international Crouch endured a tough campaign, scoring just four times in Premier League action, with Harry Redknapp's men missing out on a second season in the UEFA Champions League.

Sunderland are reported to be considering offering £10million in a bid to lure the former Liverpool striker to the North East, with the Black Cats also said to be monitoring Crouch's team-mate Pavlyuchenko.

But the tall forward, who is planning to consider his England future over the summer after falling down the pecking order under Fabio Capello, claims he is not looking to move on to pastures new.

And Crouch is confident that Redknapp will be looking to strengthen his squad over the summer to keep pace with Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

He said: "Of course I'm happy where I am. It's a great club and, in my opinion, it's on the up.

"We have a lot more to achieve. There's no doubt in the world that every team are going to make themselves stronger and we can't fall behind.

"I'm sure that the manager and chairman have got plans in mind of who they will want to bring in and add that little bit of quality that takes us to maybe that next step."

Pavlyuchenko's agent Oleg Artemov insists the 29-year-old wants to fight for his place at White Hart Lane rather than move on.

Artemov said: "Roman wants to stay at Tottenham. In a couple of weeks I plan to meet the management of the club. We will discuss his future.

"Roman has a Spurs contract and we want to prolong it. We will not even consider any other offers yet."

No way could we get £40m for Gyan mate. Young English players always attract silly money (Carroll and Henderson don't have much more than 100 EPL games and less than 20 EPL goals between them and they cost £56m between them).

Gyan is a good player but daft as this may sound, I don't think we would be that worse off without him. Bent was a devastating blow for me and I didn't want to lose a home grown youngster in Jordan at all but Gyan would be a revenue I'd happily see made and a £7m to £10m profit for 11 goals, a peculiar attitude at times and 12 months down the line, would suit me fine to be honest.

Dorset. They may not want to leave and I don't think Crouch would move up here anyway but if Arry goes for Gyan and maybe AN other forward, where is both Pav and Crouch left then? Both are 29 years old and cant be bench warmers for the whole of next season and at least Pav will be used to the weather up here.

The transfer of one player puts a whole new outlook on the thoughts of others.

    £40m for gyan <laugh>, someone said the other day Gyan = Sturridge + 20m <laugh> <laugh>

He's a good player, but not 40m worth. Fot that you expect a 20+ goals per season easily, or maybe two players that can reach that figure.

There is no way on gods given earth that Gyan will get th that total, he may help somone else doing so, but he will not achieve it.

I think there is too much expectation of him.

Good point Cest. From a personal point of view, I would rather have Pav than Crouch and to put another spin on things, there's no telling what they may have been briefed to say to the press by the Spurs management and their agents, in order to drive up their transfer values and personal terms at any potential new club they sign for.

Call me a cynic, but giving the impression that they are reluctant to move from Spurs will benefit Spurs, the agents and their own wages and signing on fees.

Dorset. Darren Judas Bent was still blogging on SAFC TV the week before he ****ed off to a Birmingham Hotel to sign for heart attack. He knew fine well he was plotting to leave with his agent and Villas representatives long before the day he did. I mean does he expect us to believe he was just in Birmingham doing some shopping when Houllier happened by and said hello?

Pav and his agent will already be weighing up options and we wont be the only club interested in a very good international footballer but I would hope we can be as persuasive as the next one in any case.
