Having been a city fan for over 30 years I'm not sure if I have ever been more proud to be a city fan. Obviously the success of the team on the pitch is a big factor in this. However, the conduct of the vast majority of fans over these past few weeks means that whatever the outcome of the name change I will still be able to hold my head high I declare myself a Hull City fan anywhere in the country! The way CTID have conducted themselves has been immense and possibly without them there would have been more hostile scenes at the ground lately. A big thank you from me to everyone concerned. It is vital that ongoing campaigns maintain the same levels of professionalism which appear to be trumping the very man who is supposed to be the professional! It is this conduct that is drawing universal support from other fans, commentators and neutrals. After all, the Premier League do not have meeting with 'hooligans'. There is no doubt Mr Allam is being backed in to a corner and this is unfortunate because no one really knows how he will retrieve himself from this situation. However, he is in the wrong and in life you have to stand up to what is wrong, even when it could lead to uncertainty. When Churchill made his 'fight them on the beaches' speech he knew there was huge uncertainty in the future but knew we had to stand up to what is wrong! Sadly (many) Cardiff City fans do not appear to have had the same appetite for 'fighting for what is right' and have sold there soul for the promise of riches. And yet opposing colour change would be far easier to implement simply by not buying the new kit and wearing blue. It seems to me many wear the new red! Lets hope Mr Allam does see some sense and we can all soon forget about the unnecessary issue.
Mr Allam is clearly in a very sullen mood about the way things have turned out with his clever little plan. The only thing for him to do is pretend to be the big man and back down. I'm sure most City fans would love to have the opportunity to acclaim him for it in order that his feelings are spared.
Totally agree, this has never been anti Mr Allam, just anti the name change. I think most are more than grateful for all he's done and I reckon, if it's handled well, he now has an opportunity to draw a line under this so we can all move forward. It doesn't really need any in depth public comment, simply saying that the name change idea has been withdrawn would be enough. He can add reasons or not add reasons as he sees fit. If he used it to rebuild a fans liason group, be it FLAG, CTWD or another format (not OSC IMHO) it could be a platform to the legacy he wants to leave. I doubt many would bear grudges.
It's important that he is offered a dignified solution to his 'dilemma'. It's pointless to try and bully him with facts and weight of opinion. He needs to see to see something positive for himself in all this mess.
I think he should back down of his own accord and not wait until the name change is refused. If the FA tell him informally now then he can think of away to back down with some grace.
I liked the idea in the Independent (think it was). Keep the name but plaster a tiger over the front of the shirt all he likes for brand promotion. Preferably one with better teeth than our current model though ��
I recall being on the pitch after the Cardiff game, I would have loved to shake Mr. Allam's hand and thank him for everything he had done for the club and the city generally. This view hasn't changed in spite of his many derogatory words. I think Steve Bruce is the key, if he can convince Mr. Allam that this needs to be dropped for purely football reasons then we can all get on with the season. I don't think anyone would see it as Mr. Allam backtracking, but doing what is best for Steve Bruce.
Spot on. Allam would not be thought bad of if he did back down. Afterall other than the name change EVERYTHING he has done he has done correctly. As well as going beyond what most normal millionaires would have done for our club. No loss of face if he did back down actually.

That's the difference'. Wise words from the most successful manager of all times that, perhaps, hold a lesson for Mr Allam.
I agree with this. Allam is not stupid and on Sunday I feared his outburst in the Independent was a sign he was moving to sell and blaming fans protests for forcing him out. In doing so putting the blame on fans anf HCC for not sharing his "great vision", claiming his benevolent ideas and cash had been rejected. That may ghave given him an honourable way out and if a buyer found a chance to recoup cash invested.. CTWD not rising to the bait and continuing with the strategy of the only disagreement being the name change has won friends throughout the quality media and football this week.
Your owner seems to be taking the same line as the wonderful Mr Tan who owns our dear neighbours up the M4 - 'My way or the highway'. They didn't call his bluff and are now Brand Malaysia playing in red despite being laughably called the 'Bluebirds'. He has loaned them a shed load of money so that they are tied into him and he knows that he has them by the short n curlies. We're one of the lucky ones because the Club is part owned by the supporters (we have representatives on the Board) and the bulk of the rest is owned by local businessmen, with only two small foreign investors who recognise the local flavour and are pretty much hands-off directors. As fans we really hope to keep it that way. Good luck with your struggle. Owners, whether they are local or foreign need to know that the fans have a voice and deserve respect. Clubs are all about history, community and most importantly the people who support them - not some bloody plaything.
