Did either Palace or Sunderland have their replacement managers lined up before they dispatched Holloway & Dicanio? I wouldn't have thought so by the time lapse before appointments? Sometimes you have to remove the problem to find a solution?
I'd say just shy of a year to be honest. I do give differing reasons however, be it style, intention, signings, results, tactics, facts, statistics. Which is more than I can say for those who wish to keep him, where there is very little other than referring to the odd game or finishing 11th. I've noticed the excellent signings and building a team seems to be on the decline with the supporters, I'm guessing thats run its course and no longer applies.
Even if that was the case it is not a good idea at all. In reality Im sure both clubs had a list of managers they would consider, even if they had not approached them at the time.
I think knowing your solution is a much better way to do it. I'd expect he's spoken to people by now and got a reasonable idea ready.
The only reason I suggested Adams as a short term replacement is the way he has transformed the youth set up and always plays attacking football. We are 4 points above the drop zone but hand on heart how long is that cushion going to last the way we are performing ? It's evaporating by the week !
Apologies, I didn't just mean PL experience, but more managerial experience in proper leagues, Neil Adams has only ever managed a youth side. And were the results any better after removing 'the problem'? Sunderland lost every game under Kevin Ball, Palace took 4 points from 4 games under Keith Millen. Neither of those record would really be good enough for us, particularly with the run of games we have coming up.
"It was staggering, an 18-minute display of the striking arts you may never see the likes of again." That's an example of how the rest of the world is rightly seeing it. Suarez shot three times in the first half and scored three goals that he had no right to score. Everything he touched turned to gold. Yet on this forum people are trying to use it as evidence of Chris Hughton's ineptitude? It's opportunist. Suck it up and move on.
But they were both 2nd in charge to there sacked managers so there mentality was as there boss's. Adams would be fresh ideas coming into the team ?
That gap that's grown from 1 to 4 points over the last 2 games, you mean? I can fully accept people disagreeing with the style, the way we capitulate away from home, etc, but in terms of the table, we aren't actually doing too badly in terms of points.
Even Chris Hughton (and BJ) disagree with you - both clearly stated that 4 of the 5 goals should have been defended better
I agree CH is not perfect, but also not as bad as some people make out. Even you must think he has his good points? If I was a manager I certainly wouldn't play the way he does, but I can see the merit in many of the things he tries. Whether they work or not is another matter. But people saying he is and idiot etc and personally insulting him is frankly ridiculous and embarrassing.
Of the five remaing games to complete the nineteen for the first half of the season four are against teams in the bottom half of the table. We have now played nine of the top ten sides. Our average points gained per game agaiinst top half teams is 0.44.Against bottom half teams our average is 2 points per game. Currently it looks as if the survival level may drop.Fulham in 18th are now four points below the number of games played.
I see I made the right decision not to get up in the middle of the night and follow it on a dodgy stream. I can't see us getting more than 8 points in total away from home this season with CH in charge, which means we need 32 at home. It aint gonna happen.
1st goal: Fer should have got a foot to the ball 2nd: Martin should have his man covered 3rd: Bennett caught in two minds, backs off just before the shot 4th: Not actually sure it should be a free kick, Martin gets the ball 5th: Suarez should never have got the chance to cross, Martin or Bennett had chances to clear So yeah, 4/5 preventable, although with the number of chances they had they could easily have scored a different 4.
Actually, not seen it mentioned that our goal was actually pretty good, neat build-up, decent cross and a very good header.
Pretty sure we are not going to need 40.The unusually large number of potential contenders at the top means lean pickings for the rest.Looking more like 36.
