Doesn't look right to me. The past few games it seems like he is carrying a knock.

Haha. Yes let's make stuff up to darken the mood even more! Lallana was our best player today.

Difficult to know where to start about tonight really. A neutral would have enjoyed themselves I'm sure but for me everyone looked a tad less confident than of late and it was a frustrating game. Of the players coming in Cork and Davis looked excellent in my view. Yoshida had a bit of a mare really. Gazza did not have much to do and having people make mistakes in front of him will not have helped his confidence. I said on another thread he would probably be more commanding in the box than last time we saw him. He wasn't. But did not do too much wrong today. Nowhere near the same class as Boruc though.

Felt sorry for JWP. he was having a good game but sacrificed for the good of the team.

I think we all feel its difficult to play dani and rickie in the same side but we are going to have to I think. Dani gets better every game but they still get in each other's way occasionally. Rodriguez was immense tonight.

On to Saturday. Enough of the mistakes!

It looks like the strain of double training sessions and the lack of squad rotation are beginning to tell on the first team.

Make stuff up? Why would I make stuff up? In my opinion Lallana doesn't look right. For me Rodriguez was our best player tonight.

Great.... I didn't see any of the Chelsea game and was too frustrated to notice tonight. Just spoke to my dad who was at the game and he said the same thing, that it looked like he was carrying an injury. We're really going to drop a bit now. We can't afford to have so many of our key players missing.

Previously was a fan of Yoshida, but tonight he was absymal. Silly decision to go 3-5-2 when clyne went off as well.

Not understanding the Cork criticism, thought he did a solid job. Yes we missed Victor, but Cork is a different type of player.

Gutting to have 77% possesion, and lose at home whilst they score 3/4 chances.

Think Poch got it wrong tonight.

Suddenly our defence becomes poor and attack quite promising. Could still do with a pacey winger to bring off the bench. JWP should not have been subbed off. Best performance by a losing them I've seen in a long time. Man City will be a game where we stand a for chance, I feel, providing we go back to our usual defensive setup. Pleased or Osvaldo, good performance. Amazing skill from Wanyama. Had Boruc played, we would have at least drawn.

The midfield was responsible for all three goals we conceded. They threw away possession needlessly on all three occasions and got punished severely. You have to give huge credit to Villa for being so clinical. I not blaming defence for any of the goals we conceded. When you play with wing backs that high up you have to pass them the ball to retain possession. Gazzaniga cannot be blamed at all either. Really disappointing.

I didn't mean to like this!Poor performance tonight but he's not a bad player. Bad timing for his first premiership start of the season

From where I was sat, the ball went though Yoshida for the first and through Gazza's hands for the second. The third was a wonder goal but the midfield should have closed him down.

No one was really terrible. I mean, it was a 3-2 loss not a 6-0 pasting. We dominated large parts of the game.

At the same time, if I'd said to you last January that we would run out a team of Gazzaniga, Yoshida, and Cork and Davis in midfield would anyone have been surprised that we might lose to Villa? The team that we think is so awful this year is pretty much the team we had last year. Gazzaniga wasn't awful, but he was clearly worse than Boruc. Same with the others. 4

They are all Premier League players, just not very good ones. Any of these guys (except maybe Gazzaniga) could play a couple of games and the team not suffer , but when all of them are playing, you're going to be in a bit of trouble.

I think if we learnt one thing tonight it was that we are not quite at the level where we can make wholesale changes just for the sake of rotation. Not sure I agree with your view on double training sessions though. The science that goes into the training -v- energy levels is immense. They will know about problems way before they actually appear.
