True, but we had changed formation by that point. Not saying 442 is right for every game, but it worked in the last 4 obviously. Having said that, most on the board said before the match that we need to start rotating, and Pardew clearly doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Good rant. I do not see what Pardew likes in Obertan. The other week we had a debate about how bad he is; he came on and ran past the ball not once but twice. It was passed over as an anomaly, but when we had the only, the last, the big chance to score tonight, 3 on 2, Sissoko gives him the benefit of the doubt and.....he runs without the ball. For his own sake, he needs to drop a division or head back to France, or Holland, or even Scotland and get his confidence back. Not as a Toon player, just as a human being - the sooner he is sold, or just let go, the better. Sammy Ameobi MUST be ahead of him, at least Sammy will take it and take players on.

I fear that tonight had echoes of last season. Perseverance with the same players, with tried, tested and failed tactics (we reverted to 4-5-1, which Pardew doesn't understand, when all we had to do was push each line up 10 yards). We should have stuck with 4-4-2, we wouldn't have lost 3-0, and you might as well keep Shola on even if he's fcking awful instead of bringing on Obertan.

The optimist in me says that he's doing it to show the board how paper-thin the squad is. No Premier League manager should have a bench without strikers on it; even Swansea found one, and they were missing TWO first team players; we had Cisse, a sub, injured and subsequently had to bring Dummett onto the bench!!

As for the decisions, we've had our fair share this season. It's a mid-table season for us, it's nice we got the reality check early and that the big clubs pulled away a bit. Might redress what a lot of fans expect and knock that top four sh!t on the head.

Formation's not really that important, the fact that I mentioned it aside (derp). We played 4-4-2 quite a lot last year though, FWIW.

That was just uber-reactive containment rubbish. We'll never achieve anything without a positive identity, which is really my point.

Just have to put it down to one of those days . Highly frustrating as we lost to a team with no strikers. 3-0 is not really a fair reflection

Decisions going against us, Should have been a definite penalty ! Unlucky own goal Krul having a bad day at the office. Should have done better with cross and with 3 goal

I have no idea why Obertan is playing. He is AWFUL !!! Why was there no striker on the bench ? Surely having Adam Campbell on the bench ??? I would like to know what happened to Ben Afra

Well guys, I was not expecting that result if I'm honest, as we were there for the taking, I know some of you will be disappointed in the Ref, but up until today we have had pretty much every refereeing decision go against us all season, so I'm not going to complain, though two decisions were not good by the referee, and Shelvey is one lucky player, anyway hope you continue to do well, and if you do decide to get rid of Pardew, then Martinez is your man, all the best for the rest of the season, and thanks for the 3 points, cannot wait for MOTD!...................<cheers>

Spot on about Webb, he should have been wearing a white top. Got to admit though that the best team on the day won. Parpoo could have done a bit better, Shelvey seemed to have far too much space throughout the match. We live to fight another day though, be good to get this one out of the way with a win at Man Utd.

Probably too easy to criticise after a defeat, but it was a bit lazy and "small-club" to go with the same team andtactics, like SBRJ had mentioned pre-game. Some pretty boring and unimaginative subs... But our subs bench isn't exactly inspiring at the best of times.

Swansea were magnificent and I have absolutely no complaints with the resounding defeat. Their position belies the talent in that squad <ok>

I like Swansea's footballing philosophy so don't resent them doing well. Nothing went NUFC's way tonight and frankly the refereeing decisions came at very important times in affecting the game.

Our dislike of baldy Webb goes back a suspiciously LONG way and has nowt to do with begrudging Swansea the result. So toast him for the 3 points as much as our lot who frankly deserved little.

Enjoy MOTD, looks to be a goal-fest tonight. Our game will be second last no doubt, propping up Stoke and Cardiff!

If it's any consolation we played better WITHOUT our strikers. It gave us more flair and pace in the final third and that was the difference in the end (from our point of view)

And respect to all those fans who made the long journey down on a cold December evening <ok>

To be honest I think the difference was us gifting you a goal before half-time. Go in 0-0 at HT and I'd fancy our chances the longer the game goes on, especially if we kept frustrating you as we were. But being behind, we had to come out of our shell and you got the second due to our very high line, and it was game over then.
