All I want is to put the words in the right order and correctly spell them. Iceland is different as the order of the words does not really matter, but this helps, as everything is declined and conjugated.

If I said - the dog chases the man (hundurinn eltir manninn) when I change english order of words the text means something different - the man chases the dog, manninn eltir hundurinn still means the dog chases the man. To get the new meaning in icelandic the text is now - maðurinn eltir hundinn.

First of all Dave I hope all goes well and that you don't end up on dialysis which my Dad did. I have to say that while it was a routine chore he did enjoy going I think for the company, the nurses and a break from my mum maybe. They genuinly seem to like him at the unit too.

As for the other aches & pains I am looking forward, like OFH, to not sitting at a desk all day and getting my body moving again. I have found Pilates helps with my lower back but its not a quick fix.

My bar would be stocked with proper English beer, good wines, malts, metaxa, G&T, pimms, cinzano and the vermouths. Nothing wrong with a nice asti or cava it if fits the moment.

    Mateus Rose anyone?

If any WFC fans aren't going to Burnley tonight, there is another match to see: http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/131203-hadley-herts-senior-cup-1159157.aspx

I remember when there was decent reserve football, we put our reserve team in it, the final was held at the Vic every year and we almost always won it. Then the other teams in Herts moaned, the final was moved from the Vic and we've never taken it as seriously since.

Highland Park I'd class with Glen Fiddich, Glen Farquis, Glen Livet and a few others as fine but not exceptional like The Laddie!

Then, of course, there is "the chaste man and dog" or "the chased man, and dog". Homonyms and commas can really change the meaning.

These are my favourites http://glendronachdistillery.com/products/ - the 33 year old is to die for, but way too expensive for my wallet. They also have an extremely limited production of 1968 Recherché - that one's on my bucket list too.

Sorry BB, I know I wouldn't like any of those because of the sherry casks, I found out the hard way by spending a weeks wages on an 18 year old MaCallan that had matured in a sherry cask and I had to give it away!

I wouldn't class Glenfiddich at all I'm afraid, but Glenfarclas, that's another story.

Ardbeg or Lagavulin for me, though I'd sample others if my arm was twisted...

Today we have more snow and a temperature of -6C, -7C is the predicted high mark. Snow is reported 2cm deep, I do not believe this as the snow moves in the wind.

On monday morning a man in Reykjavík was the first ever to be shot dead by lögreglan officers. The dead man had been causing disturbance and had shot at the officers and their vehicles. They had tried to get him out of his house and when entering the house on the second time returned shots. The man died before reaching hospital. One police has head injuries from the shootings.

Cheers for the latte Ak - read about the shooting in the news here - it must provide some comfort that this occurence, although itself tragic, is such a major incident rather than an all too common occurence, as such things unfortunately are in the UK and US etc ...

According to the weather forecasts, we're in for a bit more than a damp and cold day. Let's hope it isn't as bad as some say.
