I'm kind of on the fence, I want Powell to stay but if a better manager is available bring him in... just can you name one Ponders? As in one who would come to us?
That is the sticky nub, Ted. If a reasonable amount of money was available, then I would plump for Mike Phelan or Di Canio. I would love to see Curbs come back until the end of the season, but I doubt that is worth dreaming about. However, seeing as we are skint, I would be willing to give a chance to Chris Wilder or Gary Rowett.
Di Canio? You'll have to run that one by me in a bit more detail! Pay off a manager who has won League one and is trying to keep us afloat with a basically league one squad, and bring in a manager who has achieved.......what exactly?
Thoughts on last nights game Identical to about another 15 Charlton games this season. Reading were more open than QPR and we could have had a point. Without a set play or a penalty we will always struggle to score with these players at this level. Worst thing was Reading were not that good and we only went for it in the last ten mins. Great support from ours last night. Without two new strikers in Jan we are going down. Yann isnt fit and Church couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo. Got home just before 1am. The kebab on the walk back to my house was a mistake
Couldn't fault any of them for effort Super. We looked solid at the back but passed the ball sideways and backwards a lot from midfield. Too often a player looked up and had no options, prompting a backwards pass followed by a hoof. We had a shout for a penalty. The trouble is that most managers have wised up to us now, score a goal and the game is done. How many times have we come from behind this season? 14 goals all season ! In 36 years of going regularly I can't remember a Charlton side with less goal threat than this one.
Always producing some laughter from your posts mate, superb. I love the banjo/cow shot, as simple as it is. Didn't have to fight off any scum on the way home Vol ?
Had Di Canio stayed at Swindon, I have no doubt they would be challenging for another promotion - with an average squad of players. We need passion, not passive management. We do have the players to survive this league, but they need new impetus drilled into them.
The Wall were safely tucked up back in their borstals by the time I got back Oz. Train from Reading back to Paddington, tube from Paddington to Victoria, train from Victoria to Bromley, cab to the local kebab shop....six hours on and off the toilet
