A bit of a diversion really but I had a mate who joined the police and used to attend matches - he was supposed to watch the supporters but, being a big fan, he actually spent most of his time watching the games. At one match in particular we were playing Fulham in the cup and went 2-0 down. He was in a foul mood and spotted a young lad throwing a crisp packet onto the pitch so, more in frustration than a sense of duty, he collared the poor kid and ejected him from the ground. While he was occupied with this City scored twice and the game ended 2-2 so he really was spitting feathers and I think he used to totally ignore the crowd for the rest of his (short) career in the police.

First game of the 98/99 season away to Rotherham

We lost 3-1 but I remember seeing David D'Auria score early on

I had just turned 7 and have been hooked ever since <nahnah>

Christ, no idea, late 60s with my dad and uncle Michael. I do remember my dads first trip to the KC though, was a birthday treat from me, and was against Luton. We expected to lose but won 4-0. Brilliant day that. Vaguely recall we were in the West Stand, and was the first time me dad had been back to Hull for a long time, but the people around us were friendly and chatty and one lent him her scarf for a photo.

I remember being in a drunken stupor and celebrating his 3rd minute strike with a funky little dance!

    FUNKY!

My first game was Stoke City away, at their old Victoria ground approx '85? Ish?
We won I remember that much? 3-1? 3-2?
**** knows! I was 9. And probably not as drunk as in 98/99. Sadly.

Liverpool in the old second division I think it was 59 or 60, Liverpool won 3:0 and won promotion. A young 17 year old striker called Roger Hunt scored a hat trick I think

This topic should be a "Sticky". It gets trotted out every few months. Already been on once before this season. Can't remember how many times I've said "Man U. 6th round Cup game February 1949" and extolled the brilliance of Raich Carter and sitting on the touchline with other little kids who were being crushed in the Well in a 55,000 record crowd. I like the thread subject but Mods...please make it a sticky before it comes up again. Thanks.

I appreciate what you're saying, it has come up before, but we try to limit the number of stickies to make the board more readable, especially to people on smaller screens such as phones.

I think Craig is taking all the quotes out anyhow and putting in his history thread isnt he? Some of us might even make it into a book! (thats a reminder to go read the history thread)

1963-4 season against Bournemouth & Boscombe United. I was about a month off my fourth birthday at the time (February I think), bloody freezing and city lost 3-4. Dad took me and I didn't have a clue what was happening! The best bit was getting the train from Paragon Station to the ground and back. Bless my late dad, he took me to City and to Rovers from a young age and he was a cricketer of some note (Captained Hull CC) my brothers and I grew up with a love of playing and watching sport. Thank you dad. However, I did the same with my son and he's a feckin' Spurs fan, and I'm now encouraging my grandson (aged 6) and he's a Man U fan. Where the feck am I going wrong?

No idea but it would have been the 69/70 season. Apparently I got bored and ran off! Was found crying in The Well by a steward. I vaguely remember getting wrong when returned to my Dad. Wasn't taken again for a couple of years.

3-1 against Southend United in the Carling Cup at the KC a few years back. Altidore, Cairney and Geovanni scored.
