    Was thinking the same thing.

Hull don't want to lose their identity as Hull City, Hull's owner wants the club renamed as Hull Tigers....

People like him are ruining football.
Yeah he's got loads of cash, and hull probably wouldn't be where they are without him,but clubs have identities, just like cardiff now play in red.

Okay guys, we know there would be a riot if our new owners suggested we play in red. But if they thought it would help bring in serious investment, would we accept being renamed LU Rhinos? If not, why not?

Yes it is either move with the times or rely on your history talking about how you "used to be great". We have no new supporters coming through like we used to, without serious investment can you take NEVER seeing Leeds United lift another trophy for the remainder of your life?

    Ipswich
    Portsmouth
    Preston
    The Wednesday
    WBA
    Huddersfield
    Burnley
    Derby
    Forest
    Wolves

All teams to have won the league title who will probably never win it again, do you want to see us added to that list because without serious investment you can safely add us to it.

That is going back to 1888/90 surprising how few teams the remaining 100 plus titles have been shared between http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_champions

You're spot on Ristac. For me, after 43 years a supporter, I've seen many different jerseys, club crests, players, owners and managers. The one constant it is still the same club I've always supported, just dressed up differently. I want to see us win trophies again cos I remember all the previous ones. If that means changing club name by adding red bull or whatever to it, colour of Jersey, ground renaming, so be it if it helps us back to where I believe we belong

Interesting comments guys. Bringing in serious investment following on from renaming us LU Rhinos seems reasonable. Still don't think that getting us playing in red will ever pass even the thinking element of the kop, nevermind the meatheads. Clearly money input can only be taken so far. Good job too I say.

LU Rhinos or Leeds Rhinos (in same format as Hull Tigers) is just naff though. We've never been known as "the Rhinos".

Problem with Hull Tigers is that it is Rugby Union (or is it League?) terminology.

"City" or "United" or "Rovers" or "Wanderers" or "Albion" or "Town" are standard football names, as is not having anything afterwards. There are other more unique ones that have history - such as Wednesday, Hotspurs, Academicals, Alexandria etc - but none relate to an animal. I can't even think of a foreign football club from a country that has a proper history of football that uses an animal's name.

I really understand why the fans think "Hull Tigers" is pretty pathetic. If it attracts Middle East or SE Asia supporters, that just goes to show those fans have no idea about football in our country. And this owner at Hull clearly has no idea about it either.

But making Hull sound attractive was always going to be a problem

It's not so much the renaming that annoys me it's his lack of respect to the Hull fans.

Unfortunately in the premiership gate receipts aren't relied on as much as they should be so the owners don't mind treating the paying customers like ****e

Can't believe some of you lot would be willing to change the name to Leeds Rhinos or something equally pathetic, or even change the kit to red. It's not even as if it would guarantee winning anything, as there would be five or six other teams with just as much money. So we sell our soul and our identity for what? To finish 3rd? Or piss about in the Europa League playing obscure teams from Lithuania? Sounds like a good plan.
Build slowly but surely, and no we still won't win anything, but we'll be maybe top half of the Premier League, we'll still be Leeds United, and we'll still be playing in the famous all white strip.

    That'll do me <ok>
