    http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/irish/2013/1203/490569-oneill-to-run-rule-over-hammer-noble/

"...Noble, aged 26, is a potential target for O’Neill and his assistant manager Roy Keane and it is believed Hull City defender Curtis Davies is also on the duo’s radar as the 28-year-old also qualifies through the ‘granny’ rule."

Would he go for it or bide his time in hope of an England call up? He's certainly be first team worthy in the Ireland squad.

If I was him I'd hang on and see if he can get a transfer and then an England call-up. Lets face it, most of us knew he was good but didnt realise just how ****ing brilliant he was going to be. He looks very inch the player Villa thought they were getting.

I'd wait. There'll always be a place in the Ireland team for him, and all he's going to miss in the meantime is pointless friendlies. Equally all he'll ever play for Ireland is pointless friendlies, they'll never qualify for anything.

Unless he transfers to one of the Sky bum boys he's unlikely to get into an England manager's squad on a regular basis no matter how well he plays....i'd jack it and go play for Ireland

Well he should have imo already been called up this season and he probably agrees, so I can see him holding out.

    Euro 88, Italy 90, USA 94, Japan 2002, Euro 2012, I guess that's it for Ireland then!

Nonsense, they should qualify for the next Euros with it being expanded. Davies is 28 and will never play a competitive game for England.

Davies has been one of the best CBs in the prem this season. The fact Smalling gets a call up over him says everything about the national team.

Why do you dislike cleverley so much? What exactly has he done wrong to get your back up?

Curtis Davies has been excellent. I thought he had a lot of Rio Ferdinand of old in his style against Liverpool. Stood up, got the player to put the ball where Davies wanted and then nicked it.

I wasn't sure when we signed him but has been our best player this season. He is certainly on a par to Jagielka. But to be fair to Hodgson, if I was him I'd see if Davies can do it for a few months against the top top teams. Definitely one of the best defenders not in the England squad.
