BEAUMONTS PARTY gives the Sedgefield 2:30 a very unbalanced look. His price is based on two factors. His flat form and the jockey. He had decent flat form before however and failed miserably to convert it to hurdles which is why I think his participation chucks up some value in the race. I could make a case for a few but the one I am going to plump for despite the poor grammar is NEXT HIGHT 16-1. I have a suspiscion that he has been campaigned with a handicap mark in mind and is in receipt of the best part of a stone from the jolly. Runs behind Gone Too Far and The Liquidator suggest he has been played in my book and a better animal will be seen tomorrow. I am sure the market will be providing more clues.

I am flabbergasted to see HANNIBAL THE GREAT in a CJ hurdle tomorrow as I fully expected to see him upped in class. I wont mention wheelbarrows but the 11/10 tissue is surely a pipedream!

on the drift DAYO so quite possible that I am wide of the mark with this one. I cant have the jolly at odds on so there has to be some value in the race!

Some bizarrely interesting bits and pieces of money for BRINGEWOOD BELLE in the Southwell opener tomorrow. A winner two years ago of a three mile handicap hurdle off 85. Lightly raced since but the handicapper happy to knock lumps off at a time and runs tomorrow off a mere 68. Has won first time out in the past and although its a real leap of faith at 66-1 you don't need to have much on!

Evening all im going to have a very small ew in the 2.00 at sedgefield as it looks like a minefield with weights and conditions also jockey bookings throwing question marks everywhere . Fred bojangles does run well here 13 runs 3 wins 5 places , infact the overall career record is very good . Miss E Butterworth takes Fred out for the 5th time tomorrow claiming 7 taking fred down to a very low 10/2 she supports a 25% win rate also a big plus is she actually owns fred , the last few runs have seen fred very weighted so at 11yrs now this could be a good chance for them to go close . 40/1 is the selling point in a 9 horse race way to big for me .
good luck all

Huge gamble already down on Six Silver Lane in the Wolverhampton 5.10, In from 20-1 to 7-2.

Looks a real plot from the yard.

Can I ask why you fancy Peachez Chelsea? I ask as I had been warming up for a bet on Alpine Mysteries and saw the Easterby horse as the threat. I had not really looked twice at peachez but I know you are often not far away.

Looking forward to the hurdling debut of 2.20 Southwell Stephanie Frances tomorrow. She had one start for Michael McElhone at Punchestown when winning a Bumper on debut and her trainer described the win as "totally unexpected" as "she was so light I couldn't get any work into her". Despite running green she stayed on well to lead close home and the race has worked out well with 5 winners in behind, most notably the runner up Wicklow Brave (who had a run previously) going on to score in 3 subsequent Bumpers including carrying a double penalty. Since her debut, she's been sold to rookie trainer Dan Skelton for €50,000 and she held an entry in the Listed Mares Bumper at the Paddy Power meeting so she's obviously shown a bit at home for new connections. She starts out over timber here in a modest enough event and given that she clearly has quite a lot of raw ability judged on her former trainers comments I think she could turn out to be a nice Novice prospect for the Skelton yard who have started their rookie campaign in good style.

Looked at this one myself. Won after a longer break before and on a very lowly mark. Definitely worth a few pennies at 66s

Interesting, maybe it's nothing as I don't follow NH that much so someone else might be able to shed some light, OPTICAL HIGH in the 2 50 Southwell looks like he'll come last but very interesting booking for Sue Smith in Sam Twiston Davies, when has he ever rode for her? 33/1 and 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 worth a couple of quid e/w

Sprinter Sacre not certain to run in Saturday's Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown - scope wasn't 100% clean. They'll scope him again Thursday morning and decide then whether he goes in the final declarations. If he doesn't run it will really knock the gloss off Sandown's card (and possibly a few thousand off the attendance?). Racecourse officials will be crossing their fingers ................

Moorlands Jack 3/1 in the 12 45 will have a great chance, likewise Oratorios Joy 5/1 in the 2 10 at Wolves-has a win and a second to his name for his visits to dunstall park--may make all the running... singles and a double for me...

Hey mate, form figures around Wolves before last time was 121 and she had a good run in 5th last time including getting bumped and nudged a lot, only one of two C&D winners in the field, been dropped 3lbs for her last run, is now 5lbs below her last winning mark but is now also on the same mark Amy Scott won on her last year on, runs best fresh, the times she has run again after 11 days or under her form figures read 119221, always a consistent horse and at 9/1 is definitely the value as she should finally bounce back to winning ways today, I did consider ALPINE MYSTERIES the danger and did cover with a reverse-forecast

Morning, team. Nothing for me today as its poor beyond belief, I’m afraid.

Anyone read Greg Wood in ‘The Guardian’ yesterday by the way??? He really let Newbury racecourse have it with both barrels including in one place where he was brutal (albeit factually correct) beyond belief! Recommended reading, people.

Good luck those who do wager.

Proper pin-sticker is the 2.00 at Sedgfield, as Uncle points out above. Someone once told me never to ignore a gamble on a Sue Smith horse and I note that her Pinerolo has been widely nibbled at. Would also flag up the chances of Hi Dancer who would have a chance on the best of his form, though to be fair it may well be that those days are gone - at 25/1 I'll take a punt.

Good luck all today.

excellent article - wake up Newbury racecourse!!!

incidentally the article reminds me of a time in my younger days when I was turned away from Ascot racecourse on King George day as I had dared to come along wearing a pair of shorts! As it was a very hot day I (and quite a few other racegoers) ended up in a rather expensive clothes shop on Ascot High Street trying to buy the cheapest trousers we could get hold of ;)

Paul Cole nets €21,719 for winning the first race at Deauville with Complicit - well worth the petrol money.

1.15 Ziggie - 14/1

Think the front two in the market are worthy of their place, but its a poor race and I think a bumper winner shouldn't be 14/1 in this sort of field. He will do for me
