Bent is a luxury no one can afford, from his rise to prominence with Charlton (who were relegated) he has caused more problems than he has solved where ever he has been. The fact that so many managers have paid so much for him tells me all I need to know about the bullshit around strikers.
I was surprised when Jol signed him as we remember what happened with his signing at Spurs when we already had Berba, Keane and Defoe but I guess that shows Jol can move on but what was Jol thinking by installing Berba as captain?.... World class on his day but Captain material!!!!
Jol was just as surprised. Jol said we should sign a striker if Defoe and Mido moved on that summer - which Comolli somehow translated as sell Mido then piss away £16.5m on Darren Bent...which pretty much led to us having one striker at the start of the following season.
So Real are gonna do us another massive favour in our "relationship" and loan Arsenal Moratta in january! (according to gossip). Which one of us has the relationship again?
If they stay as consistent as they have been against the teams lower down then they'll be up there but it's tough. I've only seen Morata a handful of times and didn't really rate him but a lot if people disagree with me and he is a good goal scorer so he'll probably do well there.
Based on their league position you have to start taking them seriously. They had the advantage of not having to bed in too many new signings. I can't help thinking that they are still a little light in depth so the next few weeks should tell, doing the Christmas stretch without any injuries is a long shot.
As I said a few months ago, on paper Spurs have the better squad, but Arsenal have the better team. ...followed by three months of wishing Soldado played on paper more often.
Perhaps we should go for an artificial pitch, made from paper.....But seriously, I find it hard to criticise Soldado, last week against Manure was the first time he has really missed an easy chance, we are just not giving him the chances. I know sometimes his body language shows frustration, but that is good, it shows he cares. Given the right service I still think he will do well. We seem hell bent on keeping possession rather than putting the ball into the danger zone. Sewerage would struggle to score in our team at the moment.
They have both City and Chelsea twice, Spurs (a), Liverpool (a), Everton (a), Utd (h), Soton (a) - plenty of games where they will be tested.
He missed an easy one against Newcastle as well - which was doubly annoying as Krul was never getting to that header otherwise.
Pulis vs Allardyce, battle of the managers who only know how to hustle 1-0 wins. What's the shortest pass in the match been? Thirty yards?
