We have played 13 league games and we are currently top of the league and have a four point gap over the team in second place. Not many expected us to be in this position, but it's fantastic that we are. The question is, how many Gooners on here genuinely believe that we can actually win the title? IMO, despite the start, I think this season is one season too early for us and I expect Man City and Chelsea to overhaul us, but the progress we have made has been great and if we can carry on like this, then we win the title sooner rather than later.
Can we win it ?- yes. Will we win it ? - not so easy to answer. There's no reason why we can't keep up this good form. For the last few seasons we've been ****e up until Christmas and then hit good form in the run in. This season we need to build on what we've already achieved and carry that momentum into the new year and spring. My only concern is an injury to Giroud, because we look a bit light up top.
Of course we can, we have the talent and the consistence. But, I can't get away from the fact that whilst we've played 7 away games, 4 of those were to the current bottom 4 and we haven't visited anyone higher than 8th. If we go to an Etihad, Bridge, Anfield etc and bring back points then my answer here is a very confidence yes, but we've been lucky Giroud has stayed fit whilst we're short of options up front and we are only 35% of the way into the season....
Of course you can. You have the best team. City have the best balanced squad. Chelsea have best manager. United have best winning DNA
I think we can win the title and i think City and Chelsea are the other teams in with a shot at the title. If we are still top of the table after the City and Chelsea games then i'll be feeling confident we can go all the way.
Yes we can win it. For me it's between us City and Chelsea. I don't think United will be good enough to catch up. If anything I can see them falling further behind. I think we will have another poor spell of results at some point but Chelsea and City are likely to do the same. No team looks really 'solid'.
I was reading a report yesterday that said over the last 38 games (a full season) we'd accumulated 85 points which was higher than any other team.On this basis it is not fanciful to think that we could be champions this season.
I think we have become conditioned to think the worst, but for me things could get better. Walcott, Giroud, Cazorla, Ozil and Wilshere can play better. Podolski and Ox have yet to come back. So far no one else is really looking convincing. We haven't even really had any luck yet, or help from referees. We could still lose it, but equally we could kick on and win it at a canter.
It's funny, I was looking at our incredibly difficult fixture list for March which includes the likes of Everton, Sp*rs and Chelsea away, and City at home. We're entering a phase now where it's basically the same teams, bar Sp*rs so this should give us some sort of indication of how we can deal with a tough run of games like that including the champions league.
Sure we can win it. If I was forced to place a large amount of money on whether we will win it I'd have to say no
A lot of pundits and commentators were saying that we'd struggle when we had to play the 'big teams' in succession, but other than the Utd result which partly seemed to be down to illness in the squad, we came through that period having beaten arguably one of the best teams in Europe in their own back yard as well as a touted title contender in Liverpool.
I voted yes, especially if we've signed Morata on loan now. The only real worrying issue was for CF backup. If we get him in then we will have the squad to last the whole season.
Arsenal hasn't played big teams...the usual stuff to discredit a team that has deserved every point they've earned. Okay, Man U played all big teams with how many points garnered? Five! Arsenal played just three big teams and garnered six points already! Man U played Wes Brom, Cardiff and Southampton, garnering just 2 points...Arsenal garnered 7 pts from same matches! Man City played four big teams and garnered 9 points at home, losing to Chelsea. But at grounds where they lost to Sunderland and Cardiff, Arsenal already made six points! Only Chelsea are yet to concede advantage to Arsenal in this regard. But they have four points to cover and until they do, Arsenal is still at advantage. And after watching Arsenal's two matches against Borrussia Dortmund, I pity City! The first team to make them drop points at home this season will be The Gunners. They have to struggle the drop being maximum points! Someone wrote this on team stream some good points I think!
I don't think you need to beat the top teams to win the league. Draws against the top teams and being consistent against the lesser reams is what wins you titles. I remember Manure winning the title after having a record against the top teams.
Can you win the title - yes, will you win the title - no (probably). I must admit I am getting less sure you will blow up any time soon, but I can't really see you outlasting City. At the moment City Arsenal Chelsea Utd is my guess.
Whilst interesting, those matches came at the back end of a season where you couldn't win anything so the pressure was off (except the chase for top 4), and early in this season. The real indication as to whether you can win will come in the last couple of months of the season when squad depth really comes into play. Saying all that, I reckon you'll win it this year . I'm sure if you do you'll have spurs fans saying how it was such a weak league - as they finish ~5th
It includes more than the back end of last season, it's the first 13 games of this season and the last 25 of last season. So basically our form from November/December 2012 until now.
I think Toledo makes a very valid point about the team mind. We're playing well but we're certainly not on fire at the moment. For me, the only game we excelled in was Napoli where we bossed them from start to finish. I'm delighted with how professional we're being but I look at half the squad an I know they can all do better. For me the defence and goal keeping is where we've been the best (obvious notable exception for Ramsey!). The rest can pull their socks up though. Theo blows hot and cold and is well over-due a hot spell! Ãzil is settling in nicely but I don't think any of us think he's near his potential yet. Giroud is working his nadgers off but his shooting is going through a poor patch. Cazorla is a shadow of the player he was last season but I'm very confident he'll find his feet again. Jack is slowly seeming to battle his way back to the form we all hoped he could achieve. You could go on with the others but you get the point. The media is determined to put the squad down and say that we're only top because we've not played the 'top sides' or because the they've not peaked yet. Well I say we've not peaked yet either and the league is in for a shock when our attack finally clicks. I say we can definitely win the league. It will be very difficult obviously but we're in the lead, we've a strong squad and our players seem to be returning from injury at the right time.
You lost to Dortmund United and Chelsea in a short space of time. You need to be beating these teams home and away to get the monkey off your back. A draw v city and a win v chelsea minimum
