It won't have been for free, I seem to remember the council saying Allam had never actually made an offer. So I think it's more likely the council have said you can have it for £x amount and he's said no. I'd like the club to own it then he can forget this hull tigers lark but he shouldn't get if for free
But if you could afford to build your own, how you wanted it and without a landlord you would wouldn't you?
You think a company with assets and cash of about £360m has £120m sitting around particularly as £60m is taken by loans.
I'm not so sure. There is something a bit cynical about the whole stadium issue. He seemingly isn't interested in the freehold, but the asset. I doubt anybody here knows for sure what went on - but there is something a little odd about the whole thing. If the Council offered him the freehold, and he flat out wanted the stadium outright - who knows what he really wanted it for.
I'm not suggesting it was free - i'm glad the council aren't in the habit of giving away public assets.
I think his own finances and those of his co-investors are nothing like as robust as they were when he first expressed an interest. Maybe he just can't fund it now?
Up the Hill and into Swanland? I think I read someone say that Church Road can't be expanded, but getting it up to Conference standard wasn't as expensive as first thought. £50k?
Sorry, I'm confused........... If he owns the freehold ie the land, then surely he owns the stadium that sits on the land?
If the stadiums going for free, why should Allam get it why not Adam Pearson who I trust far more than Allam, or even me I could remortgage it for a few million, charge the club millions to play in it, put said millions in my personal bank account in Egypt then call the fans hooligans wish them dead, change the name to Hull Tigers, then if they don't like it pull out of said club and **** off with all the millions the silly bastard council allowed me gain by giving me a free stadium. result.
