I'm just a bit wary that he's speaking to the owner at a very crucial and delicate time for us all. If he comes out in the media and is seen siding with the fans, Allam will show Brucey the door, no questions asked. Which really will leave us in the ****. I just hope Bruce keeps his head and comes across as impartial and 'focusing on the football'.
Our name change isn't going to relegate us? Our squad is good enough to compete in the PL, so why would it suddenly not be because the owner does something daft? If we don't bring anybody in, fine, we'll just hang onto the lads we've got, that'll see us through. Maybe do what Villa and Everton did and bring through some quality youth players.
I was amazed you stated your surprise at how Assem Allam could be so stubborn as to throw away Tax advantages and paying back loans in favour of walking away from the club (in whatever form that takes) when he walked away from negotiations to purchase the KC Stadium because the council wouldn't "drop their knickers" for him. Personally, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, which is why I made the comment.
Let hope with Brucie's talk and the F.A. maybe intervening, something good will come out of it and not have anymore distractions.
Bruce is becoming a hero to the fans unlike the owner, I don't think Allam will dare risk sacking Bruce for insubordination like he did Barmby. Looking back the whole Barmby sacking was a bit of a warning to as to where things might lead with the owner, he only listens to himself, but maybe Bruce being such a people person can get through to him. I didn't even know he had called fans who object to the name change 'Scargilllites and militants' until I just heard it mentioned on the radio, shocking really, I thought hooligans was just a language barrier kind of insult but you can't mistake the word 'Scargillite'.
The FA might do the job for us and tell him where to go, since it has to go through them eventually. Especially, after those comments in the papers over the weekend.
SB is in a fantastic position. The worst case scenario is he gets sacked with compo and his managerial reputation restored at a time that big club vacancies start to appear. Most likely he is doing his bit for the bigger game going on.Whether AA will send a big thank you to all the "invited"ones when he gets the bigger prize we will have to wait and see. Smoke and mirrors
Also, what if I , a fan, wanted us to now play in white (to respect our history and use the first colours we had) and scrap our stripes and ordered Allam to co-operate. Would it be un-democratic of him to refuse? Surely according to your comment everyone should have a say, whether you own the damn club or not.
Why Hull City owner Dr Assem Allam needs to look in the mirror for the cause of his problems Hull City owner Dr Allam’s assertion that protesting fans can ‘die as soon as they want‘ has been widely derided by journalists, commentators and football fans the length and breadth of the country. I don’t particularly need to add my utter disgust at his choice of words as that sense of feeling has been universally expressed and understood by everyone with an interest in our game. It was an unprecedented attack from a football club chairman. Dr Allam also referred to peacefully protesting fans as ‘hooligans’ and a ‘militant minority’. He’s also obsessed with the idea that someone at the meeting suggested fans could come up with ideas to replace the fictitious amount of money the re-brand would bring in. He mentions it in every interview. So much so that he’s making himself sound quite desperate. I’m no business expert but I rather think that the responsibility for generating extra income should fall onto the people Dr Allam pays to do the job. If there aren’t people within the club capable of generating commercial revenue, perhaps Dr Allam should go out and employ someone who can? That’s just a crazy idea, mind. It’s also not true that fans have no ideas of their own. Everyone can see that the greatest asset the club doesn’t have is the KC Stadium which is currently municipally owned. An agreement to attain and exploit the stadium and surrounding land is a no-brainer. Unfortunately, Dr Allam will not speak to the local government. They have mortally offended him by standing their ground in past negotiations. Obviously, Dr. Allam does not like people who do not agree with his point of view. Though to the best of by knowledge, he hasn’t publicly wished for the local council’s demise. He saves comments like that for the people who put money in the club’s coffers week in and week out. Season in and Season out. http://metro.co.uk/2013/12/02/why-h...mirror-for-the-cause-of-his-problems-4210140/ That’s quite the U-turn from our football club as it was only a matter of months ago that Hull City took huge credit for standing up for the fans when West Yorkshire Police wrongly insisted on herding supporters to Huddersfield for a Saturday evening kick-off: ’West Yorkshire Police were wrong in characterising Hull City fans as potential hooligans.‘ It’s a crazy situation and one that is escalating by the week. That is Dr Allam’s fault. He created this situation by attempting to re-brand a club that thousands of people have a vested interest in by stealth. When it was noticed and highlighted, he responded with an awful assassination of the club’s identity. He now appears to be very upset that having held a meeting with representatives of various fans’ groups, those groups did not just quietly disappear once he said he’d do some market research at some point in the next three years. Given his statements since the meeting, it is clear that those promises were hollow anyway.
cant you just be called, hull city tigers, that sound ok to an outsider, but I am not a hull fan, the a.f.c bit is abit dated
OLM will you please get it through your head you did not represent the fans on this forum. You hijacked a place in the meeting and have thus become a very important person around the bar were you hold court. You are at best a pawn in this game.Your range of moves is limited. The game you are playing is not even the game AA is playing. I doubt AA will lose sleep over this.If I was him I would enjoy winding up some of the stuffed shirts who are playing such elevated roles in this conflict. Is there anyone on the CTWD organisers who REALLY runs a big company that they actually own?No porkys-not like the "invite".Notice I did not use the word liar.
My post is my opinion, I don't need your permission to post it. And I'm not a very important person, I'm just one of twenty or so volunteers who is attempting to keep our historic name.
Good read until this.. ^ THat's extremely cowardly imo. As far as I am concerned, AA was totally entitled to rebrand the club. It doesn't make it nice, it doesn't make it fair but he was entitled. Just as you're entitled to do whatever the **** you want with whatever the **** you own. Now clearly, the issue is that fans feel as though they own the club through some emotional bond. and clearly some are struggling to get to grips with the fact that football is now a business. There's nothing democratic about football, I'm not sure why some think otherwise. We don't get to pick the beer prices, the players we sign, the design of our next kit, the stadium location, the merchandise prices. Now sure, it's not on the same level as a name change but suddenly you seem to think you get a say in this? I'm not sure whether you actually think you do or are you merely trying to force your say in this. What has caused this mess, is the manner in which AA operates, NOT his original intentions. He's perfectly entitled to change the name of a business he owns. I don't see how anyone can deny that.
Then unfortunately you have a critical misunderstanding of democracy. For example, my gran could have voted Monster Raving Looney Party at the last election and yet they didn't get into power. Her vote was still democratic, even if it was in the minority. Much like yourself, you are more than free to set up a "City Whites" campaign if you wish, and if it got to the level of support CTWD has it would have a say, like CTWD is having now.
