He is not back to his best I will agree, but only two matches back from injury. I agree he should have been subbed rather than Church but hope that the damage from the injury isn't long lasting and we see an improvement over the next few games. His contribution like all players is affected by the formation we played and the opposition. He is certainly not a negative influence in the team and therefore earns his berth at the moment, but had we signed Camerling, who would by now have been match fit, we might have had some competition up front.
Given his body shape, I am guessing Yann is the sort of player who needs a run of games to get match fit. I am more concerned about the report on Sky that Blackburn want to sign our * out of contract * French striker in January. We will have to get used to this type of story from now on, as agents plant porkies to force Charlton's hand. On a semi related matter, nothing much surprises me at Charlton these days, but I was amazed to read that Richard Murray got a standing ovation at the Back to the Valley dinner last night. The last time I checked, his serial incompetence had left us in League One, on the brink of administration, and heavily in debt ( not least to him).He also sold us to owners even worse than he was.
It wasn't fair, we were outnumbered. Ipswich's 2 strikers kept hassling our back 4 until they hoofed up the park where Ipswich had 2 banks of 4 players, we only had 6.
