Could not believe what I saw on TV - Suarez signing autographs for City 'fans' as he came out for second half. Disgraceful!! Watched round the corner at Liverpol Street and a lot of support for City. Great day - compo for not getting Emirates tickets although dilima of offer of home ticket with a lifelong gooner. Appparantly right next to the away end.
He's been 'round the block too many times to fall for that old chestnut. The moment he'd have gone to applaud them back they'd have given him the bird. Saying that he doesn't acknowledge his own fans in the South Stand. Miserable twat.
In Spain, Iniesta gets applauded almost everywhere he goes for his goal that won them the World Cup. I can understand that. Gerrard though? Good player whose amassed a sizeable number of caps but he's never done anything remarkable. I'd never applaud him. Suarez is a despicable man. Dirty, cheating, diving disgrace, and he was **** to top it all off.
Fair enough Suarez is a twat on the pitch, job done as it seems like he winds a lot of people up as the comments here prove. Off the pitch he's a decent fella as far as I can make out, from a tough background, and nobody else for them was signing autographs on the way out of the tunnel. Sour comments for me, celebrate the win and moan about something else.
He elbowed Figueroa disgracefully in the first half and then went to ground rolling about holding his face when no-one touched him. He's also a cheating, diving racist who bites people but I guess he is still a 'decent fella' ... You serious?
Yep I was in W3 and Gerrard was clapped for a couple of corners - WHY? Fortunately he got a few boos to counteract it. I've no problem with applauding an opponent for fair play or going off seriously injured. And yes he's been decent for England for a good number of years - so if it was his last game before retirement I'd have no problem applauding him at the start or end of the match. But I don't get this idea of clapping an opposing player for taking a corner. Oh and Suarez is just a nasty piece of work - great to see our defence had him in their pockets for almost the entire match.
Suarez is supposedly a true gent and proper family man away from a football pitch. Apparently he's almost like a schizophrenic and unrecognisable when he's playing football. There was an article about him some time back which went into his life a bit and spoke to his wife and others who are close to him.
We have unfortunately a lot more 'Premier League' customers than most clubs who just like to see famous players- and not bothered about their own city. These turds have held us back for decades when they could have made the difference.
My mate, a LFC fan, who I watched the match with in the pub commented "I ****ing hate Suarez!" and that's one of them..
I don't think we have particularly more than many other clubs, you only have to look at the drop in attendance upon relegation to see teams like Bolton, Boro, Wigan, Blackburn, Blackpool...etc all had plenty. Same with the increased attendances upon promotion, like Swansea, Fulham, Southampton...etc. I think our resentment comes from the fact we were so unsuccessful for years and so we get annoyed at those jumping in on the success we have now.
